INAUGURAL MEETING 1992-1994 COUNCIL

December 3, 1991
8:00 p.m.
The Inaugural meeting of the 1992-1994 Council was called to order through a
processional and the playing of the National Anthem.
Former Mayor, Mr. Richard A. Illingworth, served as Master of Ceremonies.
Municipal Clerk, Lawrence Allison, was called upon to administer the
required Declarations of Office and Oaths of Allegiance. These Declarations
and Oaths were then given by the Mayor, Members of Council and Hydro
Commissioners. Upon taking such Declarations and Oaths, the Municipal Clerk
advised the Mayor that Council was duly constituted.
Reverend John W. Houston, Minister of Aurora United Church, rose to offer
the prayer of dedication.
Mayor West then introduced, for the benefit of those in attendance, the
Members of Council and Hydro Commissioners. Former Mayors Richard
Illingworth and Councillor Timpson were given special recognition.
Mayor West then gave his Inaugural address.
Mr. Peter Nieuwold, Director of the York Regional Police Male Chorus,
conducted this chorus in a number of musi ca 1 selections based upon the
Christmas theme.
Lieutenant Co 1 onel Kirk Corkery, Commanding Officer of the Queen 1 s York
Rangers, returned the Freedom Plaque, symbo 1 i zing the freedom of the Town,
which has been granted by the Town of Aurora to the Queen 1 s York Rangers.
Lieutenant Co 1 onel Corkery expressed the Squadron 1 s appreciation of this
grant of the Freedom and his hopes that the new Council would once again
entrust this Freedom to the Squadron.
Mr. I 11 i ngworth offered brief closing remarks and invited those in
attendance to remain for refreshments and to meet their newly elected
officials.
The York Regional Police Male Chorus led those present in "God Save the
Queen". Thereafter, a recessional led the way from the Council Chambers.
The meeting concl~ded at 9:15 p.m.
