MINUTES - Council - 19901024MINUTES TOWN OF AURORA COUNCIL MEETING NO. 48-90 Boardroom York Region Board of Education Administrative Offices Wednesday, October 24, 1990 8:00 p.m. COUNCIL MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE Mayor West in Chair; Councillors Jones, Mcintyre, McKenzie, Ochalski, Pedersen, Stewart, Timpson and Weller. STAFF MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE PRESENTATION Chief Administrative Officer, Municipal Clerk, Director of Leisure Services, Director of Planning, Director of Public Works, Fire Chief, Director of Personnel, Director of Building Administration and Treasurer. Mr. David Merkur, the owner of the Aurora Shopping Centre, attended the meeting to present to the Town a print of an air photograph taken looking northwards from the south boundary of the Municipality in 1961. The photograph was taken by Harry Oakman and was commissioned by Brewers Retail as they had a practice of accumulating a pictorial history of their retail outlets. Mr. Merkur also presented copies of the photograph to Mrs. Jackie Stuart for the Aurora Museum, and Mrs. Colleen Abbott representing the Aurora Library Board. Small copies were provided to the individual Members of Council. Mayor West thanked Mr. Merkur for his generosity in providing the Municipality with a glimpse of their heritage. He indicated that the photo will be displayed prominently in the new Civic Administration Centre. DECLARATION OF CONFLICT OF INTEREST Councillor McKenzie declared a possible Conflict of Interest in Accounts paid to Herb McKenzie Auto Parts, due to monetary interest in same, and did not take part in or vote on any questions in this regard, or attempt in any way to influence the voting on such question. Councillor Timpson declared a possible Conflict of Interest in Accounts paid to York Region Board of Education, and in Report PL90-139-326, Site Plan Agreement between Town of Aurora and York Region Board of Education, due to employment with same, and did not take part in or vote on any questions in this regard, or attempt in any way to influence the voting on such questions. Mayor West declared a possible Conflict of Interest in Accounts paid to Decor Glass, and did not take part in or vote on any questions in this regard, or attempt in any way to influence the voting on such question. Councillor Jones declared a possible Conflict of Interest in Accounts paid to Timberlane Tennis Club due to membership in the organization, and did not take part in or vote on any questions in this regard, or attempt in any way to influence the voting on such question. Councillor Mcintyre -Requested confirmation that downspouts in new homes constructed in the Municipality do not direct storm water down driveways and into the storm sewer system.
