MINUTES OF THE 18TH COUNCIL MEETING HELD IN THE
COUNCIL CHAMBERS, MONDAY, OCTOBER 3rd, 1983 AT 8:00P.M.
Present Were: Mayor Richard Illingworth and Councillors Richard Barker, Tim Jones,
Len Ostick, Martin Paivio, Earl Stewart, and John West.
Councillor Norm Stewart absent due to illness. Councillor Evelyn Buck on vacation.
Mayor Illingworth introduced Nancy Pack who will be attending Council meetings and
writing for the Topic Paper.
Mayor Illingworth advised Council that Mr. Dittmar who was to appear under
Delegations on the Agenda this evening is unable to be in attendance and requested
permission to have Delegation Status at the October 17th, 1983 Council meeting.
This request was granted.
Letter# 18-129 -Derek Willis and Associates was inadvertently left off the Agenda
under Delegations. Council concurred that Mr. Willis be heard under Item 4 -
Delegations on the Agenda.

M'r. D. Willis representing Granada Investments appeared before Council and
outlined their proposed apartment project. Mr. Willis stated under By-Law
Number 1863 that they would have been allowed 247 units plus commercial.
By-Law Number 2213 allows 210 units plus commercial.
Resolved that this proposal be referred to the Planning Committee
for study and report.

1. Wonderland Report
The Aurora Day held at Canada's Wonderland attracted 294 residents. The day
raised a profit of $204.88.
2. Blue Jay Oay
Sixty five residents of the Town of Aurora joined at Exhibition Stadium to
watch the Toronto Blue Jays defeat the visiting New York Yankees. A profit
of $12.50 was realized from the event.

3. outdoor Band Concert canteen
We had the canteen open for three of the seven band concerts at Town Park
this past summer. A $4.20 profit was raised. This could be improved by
various methods which will be referred to the 1984 Budget discussions.
4. Alliance.Park
The Alliance Park lease will be presented to Council at the next meeting for
their approval. The Alliance Park Committee is preparing documentation to
submit a Ministry of Tourism and Recreation Capital Grant Application before
the September 30th deadline.
5. Library ~-Leisure-Services Meeting
This meeting will take place Wednesday, September 28th, at 7:30 p.m.
Representing the Leisure Services Advisory Committee will be Councillor John
West, Citizen members Barb Hooper and Betty Pedersen and Director of Leisure
Services Fred Horvath.

Councillor Jones requested Council's consideration on the situation of the
school crossing in the Murray Drive and Glass Drive area.
Resolved that a temporary crossing guard be hired immediately for
the area of the walkway across from Regency Acres Public School.
The Works Department staff be directed to advise the owners in the
area that have planted hedges, trees or gardens, or have fences on
Town property that they must be removed immediately.
The Works Department are to be requested to submit a cost for the
placing of a sidewalk on the east side of Murray from the walkway
south to Murray Drive. This report to be received by October 12th,
1983.
The crossing guards, at all school crossings, to be hired to cover
the entire lunch hours, as set out by the various schools --11:30
a.m. to 1:15 p.m. in addition to their other hours of employment.

The Traffic By-Law is to be amended to include "No Parking" on the east side
of Murray from Glass and Murray Drives to the area north of the walkway.
