MINUTES OF THE INAUGURAL MEETING OF COUNCIL HELD AT
ST. ANDREW'S COLLEGE ON DECEMBER 6TH, 1982 AT 8:15 P.M.
Processional .
The meeting was called to order by the playing of 0 Canada.
Mr. R.S. Thomson, Q.C., Town Solicitor, administered the Declaration of Office to
Mayor Elect Richard Illingworth and the following Councillors Elect:
Councillor Elect R. Barker
Councillor Elect E. Buck
Councillor Elect T. Jones
Councillor Elect L. Ostick
Councillor Elect M. Paivio
Councillor Elect E. Stewart
Councillor Elect N. Stewart
Councillor Elect J. West
All members of Council having taken their Declaration of Office and having
subscribed to the Oath of Allegiance to the Queen the 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985
Council duly constituted.
Reverend Donald R. Bone, representing the Aurora Ministerial Association lead all
present in the Prayer of Dedication.
The Roll Call of Council 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985-K.B. Rodger, Clerk-Administrator.
Mayor Richard Illingworth gave his Inaugural Address.
Several musical selections were given by the Aurora United Church Choir under the
direction of Marie Devereux, A.R.C.T., A.T.C.L., A.Mus., O.R.M.T.
Major Ross McKee, Officer Commanding "A" Squadron, Queen's York Rangers, was
introduced and made a presentation of the Freedom Plaque to Mayor Illingworth to
hold in Trust and to return to the Queen's York Rangers Armories on a later
occasion.
Past Mayors were introduced and welcomed.
