Present Were: Mayor Timpson, Councillors Isaacson, Jones, Ostick, Pedersen,
Simmons and Stewart.
Councillors Tonner and West sent their regrets.
PRESENTATION TO R. CRIBBETT:
Mayor Timpson presented a Certificate to R. Cribbett, Works Foreman, on his
successful passing of the Effective Management Course, sponsored by the Ontario
Good Roads Association.

Be It Hereby Resolved that the Minutes of the July 21st, 1980 be
adopted as printed and circulated.
CARRIED
Mayor Timpson declared a possible conflict of interest in accounts paid to the York
County Board of Education and refrained from discussion or voting thereon.

Isaacson: Resolved that the accounts in the total amount of $457,357.69 details of
Pedersen: which are on file with the Treasurer's office, be approved for payment
and the Mayor issue orders on the Treasurer for same, and the seal of

Dr. Crowe appeared before Council and requested Council's consideration in
the construction and operation of a Retirement Home at 159 Yonge Street
North, Aurora.
Dr. Crowe was advised that a rezoning would be required for the proposal.
This matter was referred to the Public Meeting scheduled for September 9,
1980.

Report # 73 -Administration Committee ••• Various Matters
Councillor Isaacson in the Chair.
A regular meeting of the Administration Committee was held on Monday, August 11th,
1980, at 3:00 p.m. in the Mayor's Office.
Present were: Mayor G.D. Timpson and Councillor B. Pedersen. Councillor R.
Isaacson set his regrets.
1. Letter 13-260 -Aurora Minor Hockey Association
The Committee recommends that the annual grant paid to the Aurora Minor Hockey
Association to sponsor the 1981 Town of Aurora Bantam Tournament be paid in th
amount of $1,700.00. This represents the actual Bantam Tournament expenses
paid to the Community Centre during the holding of the 1980 Bantam Tournament.
The Committee further recommends that this amount be charged to Account #
1400-87.
The Committee advises that the 1981 Tournament will be held January 23rd
through 25th, 1981. The Committee also advises that this grant amount is
increased from $1,300.00. The $1,300.00 was established in 1977, and there ha
been no increase since that time.
2. Letter 14-55 -The Yellow Brick House
The Committee recommends that the Town of Aurora pay $180.00 to The Yellow
Brick House as a share of the cost of relocating this service from its previou
location on Church Street in Newmarket to Eagle Street in Newmarket. The
Committee recommends that this amount be charged to Account# 1400-87.
3. Letter 14-71 -The Workmen's Compensation Board
The Committee recommends that authorization be granted for members of the
Volunteer Fire Brigade to take advantage of the increased coverage which is no
available from the Workmen's Compensation Board.
4. Association of Municipal Tax Collectors of Ontario -13th Annual Conference
The,Committee recommends that Mrs. Sandy Jenkinson be authorized to attend one
day, Tuesday, September 9th, 1980, of this conference when Section 86
Reassessment will be discussed. The Committee further recommends that the
usual expenses in accordance with the policy of Council be authorized for this
purpose.

The Committee recommends that the request of this companY to have $4.73 in
interest charges on taxes paid after the due date be denied.

(as per attached) with Display Depot Company for a rental fee of
$5,000.00 per annum, for the placing of no more than twelve (12)
advertising signs at the Community Centre. 50% of the revenue from
each ad to be paid at the signing of this Agreement and the balance
upon the completion of the painting of the ads.

Hi story Update
Councillor Stewart requested Council's consideration in having Miss J. Stuart
complete the 20th Century history of Aurora. There is now a 55 year gap in the
written history of Aurora.

completion of the updating of Aurora's history.
