COUNCIL CHAMBERS ON MONDAY JULY 21st. 1975 AT 8:00 P.M.
PRESENT WERE: Mayor E. Buck, Councillors: Davis, Jackson, Miller,
Roth, Simmons, Timpson and Williamson.

Davis:
"Resolved that we waive the agenda to hear Delegations."
CARRIED
Mr. Doug Hart representing the United Steel Workers of America
presented a brief to Council to be.left for future consideration.
Mr. Jongeneel presented a proposal of 5 lots on the North Side
of the old Bloomington Sideroad. This was referred to the Planning
and Development Committee for further study.
Mr. Joe Gellany presented a proposal of 400 apartments and multiple
family units on 11 acres of land on the east side of Yonge Street
North.

"Resolved that this proposal be referred to the Planning
and Development Committee for preliminary study and
report."

Max Shurman representing Captain Developments, proposal for Gateway
Plaza.
This proposal was referred to the Planning and Development Committee
and also the reaction of the area residents is to be obtained by
Mr. Shurman, with regards to the proposed Public Meeting.
Mr. Bill Hitch informed Council of the cut backs in se~ice which
the Library Board had found necessary following the reduction allocated
by the Council for the 1975 Library Board Budget.
Mr. Hitch presented the revised 1975 Budget.

to the Subdivision Agreement, that the Building
Inspector place a stop work order on any lot which is
in non-conformity.

agree to lower the concrete retaining wall and handt.ail
as suggested in J. D. Reid's letter of July 14th~ 1975
at a approximate cost of $1,000.00, and the Seal of ·
the Corporation be attached hereto." ·

interim basis of septic tank and tile beds
pending the provision of the sanitary sewer
services under the S;,uth York Servicing Scheme."

Item #1. Cleaning of Fire Department Uniforms:
As the members of our Fire Department are expected to parade and
be present in uniform at various Town events, the Committee recommends
that permission be granted to spend $300.00 of the $5,000.00
budget allocation for inspections on the cleaning of Fire Department
Uniforms. The men will be required to submit bills for such
cleaning to the Fire Chief for reimbursement.

July 9th. 1975:
1. Lots 52-80 are not averaging 2 acres as per Regional
Municipality of York "Estate Residential" policies
2. Lots 1-51 (14,000) sq. ft. area appear too small to
support a septic tank and tile bed system.
3. This subdivision is located in the Oak Ridge Moraine
and we are concerned about the undergr.£·und domestic
water supply.
4. This subdivision and the abutting proposal "Tri-Par
Developments" #19T-23671R would not concur with the
Green Belt criteria to be maintained between
municipalities.
5. Block A "future development" should -be spelled out
a,. to the exact intent of the developer.
6. The Town of Aurora would not be interested in supplying
services to this area, if requested.

done by, the Engineering Department of the Region of York, in
carrying out the recommendation of the Coroner's Jury and the
Town of Aurora Safety Committee. The letter further points out
that the "Dangerous Intersection Ahead" signs to be erected by
the Town of Aurora east and west of the intersection of St.
John's Sideroad and Bayview Avenue, as approved by the Council

Committee in which the Committee respectfully submi~ted the

Community Buildings Committee meeting Thursday July 17th. 1975.

Dawson, F. Caruso, R. Simmons and E. Batson.
The Committee wishes to inform Council that the Tommy Dorsey Band
is being booked for the Community Centre on Friday, August 22nd.
1975.
Tickets are $8.00 per person, in advance, or $10.00 at the door.
The Dorsey Band will cost $3,500.00 and a back-up band, costing
about $325.00, will entertain during breaks. A light buffet is
included in the price of the tickets.
