CARRIED Councillor Timpson in the Chair Gouncil in Committee Report £44 Mayor Buck presented a report of Council in Committee in which the Committee respectfUlly submitted the following: A meeting of Council in Committee was held on Monday, June 9th. 1975 '····· · in the Council Chambers at 8:00 p.m. Present were: Mayor Evelyn Buck. Councillors: Davis, Jackson, Miller, Roth, Simmons, Stewart and Timpson. Item #1: Meeting with representatives of E & I1 and York Taxi: A. Mr. P. H ebb of E & I1 Taxi and Mr. Russell Hughes of York Taxi met with Council in Committee and advised of the insufficient business to maintain a twenty-four hour, ~seven day a week, operation under By-law #2011-74. The two taxi operators are requesting that between the hours of 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. from Sunday to Thursday and from 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.on Fridays and Saturdays and that they not be required to remain open during this time. B. Council in Committee would concur with the above request and would recommend that the Clerk-Administrator prepare an amended By-law for REGULAR MEETING -15-JUNE 16th. 1975 REPORTS OF COMMITTEES CONT'D the next regular meeting of Council. Item #2. Meeting with Mr. J. Langdon of Travelways Ltd: Mr. J. Langdon of Travelways Ltd. met with Council in Committee to discuss the future of the Aurora Bus Lines Ltd. in providing service and transportation to the Town of Aurora subject to their final purchase from R. Farquharson and approval from the Department of Transport and the Town of Aurora. Council in Committee would concur that a study of transit operation in Aurora as indicated by Mr. Langdon be implemented and that a letter of termination of contract of the Aurora Bus Lines by Mr. R. Farquharson be obtained and further that a copy of the last proposed route be made available to Mr. Langdon and that a copy of our current bus contract be given to Mr. Langdon. Mr. Langdon is to supply.further information for Council's consideration. Item #3. Ontario Housing Corporation, f1Lture apartment vacancy: Mayor E. Buck advised members of Council of a telephone conversation with Mr. T. Surgeoner of the Ontario Housing Corporation indicating that fifty suites might be available for subsidized family in the apartments under construction on Wellington Street, West. Council in Committee would recommend that a meeting be held with Mr. T. Surgeoner on Thursday, June 12th. 1975 at 8:00 p.m. Item #4. "Telecare York" -Inquiry re space availability -Letter 9-82 Council in Committee would advisa, after considerable investigation, that the Town of Aurora has no space availability at present and that possibly in 1976 space may become available. Item #5. Reversion Council in Committee discussed the drainage and easterly end area of this road and would re~uest plans of how the drainage is going to be resolved so that our engineer can inspect same and report to Aurora Council. Item #9: Proposed sign Royal Bank of Canada -Letter 11-19 Council in Committee discussed the proposed redesigned Community Centre sign and would recommend that the Town of Aurora enter into an agreement with the Royal Bank on this sign and allocate the expenditure. The cost of this sign, including letters, would be $4,217.13, of which the Royal Bank is contributing $2,000.00. Item #10: Ice rates -Community Centre: Council in Committee would recommend that for the 1975-76 season, ice rates be increased from $25.00 an hour during Monday to Friday to $27.50 an hour and on Saturdays and Sundays from $30.00 to $32.50 an hour.
