Mr. D •• Glass introduced the new Hydro Manager Mr. Stewart Holt.
Mr. Don Glass presented a petition from the residents in the Edward
Street vicinity, requesting that Edward Street not be shown as a
major Commercial or Industrial Collector road.
Mr. Keith Hensen from Wimpey Homes Ltd. requested Council's
consi4eration to amend the Subdivision Agreement to reduce the
minimum size ot houses which could be built in the 2nd. phase of'
the Ashton Dene Subdivision, to 1,000 sq • .ft. They would propose
to develope the 2nd. phase under theOntario Housing Action Program
and would hope to sell these houses in the price range ot $46 000.00
to t;o,ooo.oo. Mr. Hansen reported that the 1st. phase of the
Ashton Dene Subdivision 55 units, works out to 1,~01 sq • .ft. average.
They would propose the average square footage !or the 2nd. phase
to be 1,.181 sq. ft., giving a total subdivision overall average
of 1,240 sq. ft.
Mr. Hansen indicated that he wss willing to show members oi' Council
similar types of development now being constructed in Milton and in
l3ax they are now constructing even smaller type houses.

Council in Committee was advised of the annual meeting of the
Metropolitan Toronto Industrial Commission to be held in Toronto
Monday-January 27th. 19?5, at11:15 a.m.
Item #2: Town of Newmarket, Canine Control -Letter #4-70:
Council in Committee were advised of a future meeting concerning
Canine Control to be held in the Newmarket Municipal Offices, on
Thursday, January 16th. 1975. . ·
Council in Committee would recommend that Aurora representatives,
Maypr E. Buck and Councillor R. Simmons attend.
Item #3: Department of Health and Social Services Health Unit
Letter #1-74
The Department of Agriculture, in conjunction with the York Regional
Health Unit has requested co-operation in conducting a Rabies
Clinic in Aurora. This is scheduled for February 10th. 19?5, between
2:00 P.M~ and ?:30 P.M.
Council in Committee would recommend volunteer workers be contacted
to assist in this clinic .•
Item #4: Wimpey Homes Ltd. -Letter 25-18:
Wimpey Homes Ltd.have requested a change in their Subdivision
Agreement for the Ashton Dene Subdivision.
Council in Committee would recommend that Wimpey Homes Ltd. appear
at the next Council meeting. ·
I.tem #5: Street Lighting for Edward Street, Aurora Hydro Commission
Council in Committee considered the extending of Sodium Lighting
on Yonge Street, north and south, and would recommend,thatwhen
existing lights are removed, they be. erect.ed on the new portion .of

The Ontario Housing Corporation -Mr. Andrew Alec.
This further meeting will be held by the Planning and Development
Committee and with other Councillors invited to attend.
Item #7: Town of Aurora -Official Plan:
Council in Committee discussed the next proposed meeting for the
Official Plan and is recommending Tuesday, February 11th. 1975
for this meeting with all written submissions to be received by
Thursday, January 30th. 1975.
Item #8: Removal of Trees from Town Property -Letter 24-17
Council in Committee were advised of trees requested for removal
by Parks Foreman, Mr. N. Weller, and would recommend these trees
be removed, with reference to the attached list.
Item #9: Region of York Regional Road Names -Letter 24-70
The Region of York has advised that Regional Road Names be utilized
where possible, where a road is known by different names in
adjacent municipalities.
Council in ,Committee would recommend that Bayview Avenue, Leslie,
B€ithtirst 'arid Wellington Street names be retained in the Town of
Aurora :and in instances,,such as the AuroraSide Road, being outside
of a'built-uparea, it remain the same.

Item #12: Aurora and District Historical Society -Letter 25-8
Council in Committee were advised of the above letter and the status
of the Jack Wood home and it is recommended that the Clerk-
Administrator advise that the residence will be occupied until
August 1975 and a possibility that the date for vacant possession
may be extended if the parties agree. If and when, the building is
vacant, we could contact them.
Item ~3: W. s. SYffiington, re parcel of vacant land -Letter 1-110
Mr. W. S. Symington, Real Estate Broker, has inquired re the possible
purchase of vacant land on the north side of Ridge Road.
Council in Committee wnuld advise that if a future decision to sell
this parcel of land was made, it would have to be advertised and
sold by public tender.

their proposed reconstruction program of Hwy. 11
between Aurora and the Metropolitan Toronto Boundary,

and the Bloomington Sideroad, that street lighting
be investigated and that responsible officials view
this~ea at night and not in the day time.
