Planning and Development Committee Report #69
DECEMBER 9th. 1974
Councillor Davis pre~ented a report of the Planning and Development
Committee in which the Committee respectfully submitted the
following:
A meeting of the PlaDJJ.ing and Development Committee was held
on November 27th. 1974 at 7:?0 p.m. with the following present:
Councillor W. Davis, Councillor J. Williamson, Building Inspector
R. Harrington and Mr. A. Child representing Auroran Holdings.
The Committee, after perusing the revised Site Plan, recommends it
be approved, as it conforms to the Aurora Zoning By-law, with
the recommendation that the 2 buildings be joined (if feasible)
by a covered walkway.
The Committee further recommends the building permit be issued,
with the required site plan and structural drawings being
submitted to the Building Department.
The usual Permit Fees will apply.

Parks and Recreation Committee Report #70
Councillor Miller presented a report of the Parks and Recreation
Committee in which the Committee respectfully submitted the
following:
A meeting of the Aurora Parks and Recreation Committee was
held in the Board Room of the Aurora Community Centre on Tuesday
November 26th. 1974 at 8:00p.m.
Present were: Councillor P. Miller; Members Mrs. B. Sorley,
M. Heptinstall, P. Bailey and E. Batson,
Recreation Administrator.
1. Delegation: Mrs. D. Wright appeared as a representative
of the Richmond Hill Y.W.C.A. regarding a brief to Council
for a grant of $500.00 to sustain a ladies' and children's
group programme in the south end of Town.
The programme is called "Take A Break" and uses Regency Acres
School once a week during day-time hours. An average of 36
women and 30 children attend; the fee is $1.00 person, plus
25¢ per child and they have an operating loss from October
1974 to the present of $201.00.
Mrs •. Wright questioned the length of time· taken for her·
letter to appear before Council and further the Recreation
Committee, as the letter dated August 30th. was not replied
to until November 8th.
The Committee recommends that some form of grant be given to
the Y.W.C.A. to continue its efforts to establish themselves
in the area.

Winter Carnival -January 18th -to include a teen dance in
the Auditorium on Friday, January 17th and on Saturday~:
January 18th. -honse drawn sleigh rides, snowmobile rides,
tobaggan races, kids races and games, cross country ski
trail demonstration, etc. and closing with the usual Saturday
night activities in the Community Centre.
Recreation Appreciation Night Friday, April 18th
Arts and Crafts -Final Day, Sunday, April 20th.
Art Show -Nay 2, 3 and 4th. -Mrs. B. Sorley was appointed
Chairman of the Art Show.
