Councillor Simmons presented a report of the Works Committee in
which the Committee respectfully submitted the following:
A meeting of the Works Committee was held in the Town Offices
on Wednesday May 28th. 1974 at 4:00 P.M.

1. 30 Jones Court-Request to lengthen fencing to Town Line.
The Committee feels fencing would be in-appropriate and
not necessary.
2. Letter 11-11 -Request for removal of curbing
The Committee feels this should be denied. There is room
for two cars in the driveway now and since it is a single
family dwelling we do not feel a removal of curbing is
necessary.
3. Letter 10-54
Mr. 1'1cGregor J?equests permission to attend·". the Transportation
Canada Conference.
The Committee recommends that permission be granted and that
the usual expenses be paid.
4. 9-39 -Rural Roads
Resurface Granular A -13-1/3 miles. The total cost would
be $65,333.00.
The Committee recommends half of this job should be done
this year, and the balance to be done next year.
5. 9-78 -Letter from the Bank of 1'1ontreal
. 1'1r. J. D.Reid, Town Engineer has answered this letter.
6. Letter 11-40 -14 Bigwin Drive -Re: 1'1achell Park
The Committee recommends that the Parks and Recreation
Committee look after item #1, and the Planning and

Councillor Stewart presented a report of Council in Committee in
which the Committee respectfully submitted the following:
A meeting of Council in Committee was held on Monday, May
27th. 1974 at 8:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers.
Present were: Mayor E. Buck
Councillors: Davis, Miller, Simmons, Stewart,
Timpson, Trent and Williamson.
Item #1 Meeting held with 240144 Investments:
Mr. A. Child, representing 240144 Investments, appeared before
Council in Committee.
Council in Committee are to discuss the calculations of suite and
development density on all areas, before discussing this site
further.
Item #2 Volunteer Firemen's Meeting:
The Volunteer Firemen were advised that the proposed fire truck
purchase was referred to the Public Safety Committee for further
information and details. The Mayor expressed the Town's
appreciation and contribution that the Volunteer's have put forth
in serving the Community.

Item #3 Crystaplex Plastics Ltd.-Quotation
Council in Committee would recommend that the Deputy Clerk
obtain other quotations where possible and to ascertain that all
specifications and references be investigated on alternate
suppliers.
Item #4 J. D. Reid's Finance Report-Bancora Lands
Council in Committee discussed in detail the rJ:)port on the above
lands and would accept J. D. Reid's report.
Item #5 Report -R. J. Harrington; K. B. Rodger Re: Exchange
of Lands -Felcher:
Council in Co,mmittee discussed the proposed Felcher exchange with
that of the old Police Building and Council in Committee do not
recommend that an exchange be pursued any further.
Item #6. Ministry of the Solicitor General -Courses for Volunteer
Firemen: Letter #ry0-79
Council in Committee would recommend that this letter be recewed
as information and referred to the Fire Chief andVolunteer
Firefighters.
Item #7. Request from Mr. E. A. McGregor -Water works materials
Council in Committee would concur with the proposed purchase of
waterworks supplies.
Item #8 Region of York -Letter #11-16 York Cab Owners Assoc.
The Regional Municipality of York has advised the Council of the
York Cab Owners Association request for one licencing authority
within the Region. Council in Committee considered the above
proposal and are not in favour of the above proposal.
Item #9 Memo from Mr. E. A. McGregor, Tewn Superintendent:
Letter 10-46
Council in Committee received the above memo from Mr. E. A. M~Gregor
requesting consideration for reviewing water and sewer connecting
costs.
This item was referred to the Works Committee.
Item #10. Township of West Gwillimbury -All municipalities
within a Conservation Authority : Letter 10-30
Council in Committee received the letter from the Township of
West Gwillimbury expressing concern of having their municipality
included within a Conservation Authority.

for Traffic Signals
Council in Committee were advised of a preventative maintenance
program for traffic signals from Stacey Electric Co. Ltd.
The Committee felt that as the guarantees on traffic signals
expired, that Stacey Electric be responsible for the controllers
and that we request Aurar,a-Eydrodo the routine maintenance and
bulb replacement. ·
