REPORTS OF COMMITTEES CONT' D
Parks and Recreation Committee Report #70
Councillor Miller presented a report of the Parks and Recreation
Committee in which the Committee respectfully submitted the
following:
A meeting of the Aurora Parks and Recreation Committee took place
on Tuesday, August '14th. '1973 at 8:00 P.M. in the Aurora Community
Centre.
'1. Letter from Aurora Minor Hockey Association and the Aurora
Figure Skating Club
A joint letter from Aurora Minor Hockey and the Figure Club was
received in which they request that a power skating programme be
initiated in the Community Centre with one hour of prime ice time
and one early morning hour being required. Total expenses for ice
time and instruction would be approximately$ '1,600.00. A further
suggestion was made that possibly 60 boys could be enrolled at a
cost of $25.00 each, with the Aurora Parks and Recreation Committee
financing any difference in rev~nue and expenditures.
After considerable discussion, the Aurora Parks and Recreation
Committee would recommend to Council that this proposal be
accepted with two provision: '1) that suitable ice time can be
found; 2) that Council approve financial arrangements.
2. '1974 Rates
The Committee recommends that Council approve the following:
'1. Ice time rates, as suggested in the proposal submitted to Council
be accepted;
2. That auditorium rentals be increased from $60.00 to $75.00 as
of January '1/74.
3. That main floor rentals be increased from $'150.00 to $'175.00 as
of January '1/74.
4. That whole day main floor rental be increased from $200.00 to
$225.00;
5. That full day auditorium rentals be increased from $75.00 to
$90.00.
6. That non-p~ofit auditorium rentals be increased from $25.00 to
$30.00.
7. That corkage charges remain the same ($'1.50 per 25oz. bottle
of liquor and case of beer and $2.40 per 40oz. bottle of liquor.)
3. Community Centre and Recreation Budgets
The Committee recommends that E. Batson's salary as Recreation
Administrator be split 50-50 with Recreation and that other aspects
of both budgets be studied, as it is obvious that some Recreation
expenses are being charged to the Community Centre.
