application upon compliance with CONDITION OF CONS!i.NT as follows."
CONDITION OF CONSENT:

Reasons for the Decision:
( 1) There 1•ere no objections either written or verbal to the granting of the

(2) The Committee considered the question of requiring the applicants to provi--
road allowances as is the normal practice in similar conveyances.
However, the Committee was assured by the Engine<_cring Department of the
Regional Municipality of York (their letter dated July 5, 1972) that
independent arrangements had been made by the Engineering Department

Public Safety Committee Report #242
Councillor Williamson presented a report of the Public Safety Committee in
which the Committee respectfully submitted the following:
The Public Safety Committee met at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 25lli, 1972
to discuss several matters.
The following were in attendance: Councillors Williamson, Simmons and Fire
Chief G. Burling.
1. The Committee instructed the Fire Chief that when he gives instructions to
any person or persons to take appropriate action in order to reduce the
fire hazard in said person or persons home or place of business, such
instruction is to be in writing and a copy kept on file. And copy to the Cle~;-
2. The Committee recommends ~hat c. E. Hickey and Sons, 589 Cannon St. East
Hamilton be hired to check the pumps on the fire equipment.
3. The radiant heat pipes under the floor of the old fire hall are breaking,
In order to replace them it would require that the complete floor be torn
up which would be a great expehse. The Committee recommends that firm
quotations be asked for on the cost of installing two overhead hot wate~
heaters.

4. Letter
Item 1
corner
21-27 from the Aurora Safety Council was discussed:
-The Committee recommends that the mailbox at the north-east
of Irwin and Yonge St. North be moved to the south-east corner.
Item 2 -It is recommended that stop signs be erected on Centre Cres. where
it intersects Centre St.
Items 3 & 4 were actioned in previous reports of this Committee.
5. Letter 22-13 from Aurora Orchards Homeowners Association asking Council to
investigate the possibility of placing an Adult Crossing Guard at the Devins
Banff intersection on school days, in the morning, at noon and when school is
out at 3.25 p.m. We feel that this is a reasonable request and recommend
that this be done.
6. Referring to the Traffic Control Brief from the Gateway Heights Ratepayers
Assoc. which had been referred to this Committee, As this is a rather
lengthy list of recommendations it was felt that someone with more knowiliedge
of traffic control should be consulted, so we asked Chief Crawford of the
York Regional Police to detail one of his Inspectors to make a complete
survey of that area of Town and submit his recommendations to us. Vie have
received a !'llply from the Chief in which he says, quote "Ihave for
acknowledgement and reply your letter of Sept. 11~ with the enclosures of a
letter from the Gateway Heights Ratepayers Association, in which they refer
to traffic control in the Town of Aurora. It is my view that all the
recommendations contained in that letter should be the subject of a traffic
engineering study and in order to <!etermine the authenticity of the request,"
end of quote. The Committee therefore recommends that the Regional EngineeriJC,?,
Department be requested to make this study and submit their report to-this
Council at the earliest possible date.
7• It is recommended that the Minist~ of Transportation and Communications
be contacted by telephone by our Qlerk-Administrator asking them to expedite
the implementation of the pedestrian cross walk at Haida Dr. and Wellington
St. West, and our Provincial memb~r be contacted and asked to pursue this
matter. ,,
8. Letter 21-75 from Chief Crawford Of the York Regional Police regarding the
action taken on speeding in Town was discussed and the Committee feels the
Police are doing an excellent job, in this respect.
9. Quotations on the installation of a tower and antenna system at the Fire Hal~-
were opened. There were three quotations as follows:
1. Canadian Electronics Service Ltd. $600.48
2 B & H Communications (a) $590.00 (b) $498.75 (medium ranee)
3. Aurora Communications (a) $579.25 (b) $478.75
We recommend the acceptance of the quote of $579.25 from Aurora Communicationa
