passed a strongly worded motion to be forwarded to the Aurora Town

Parks and Recreation Committee Report No, 216
Councillor Miller presented a report of the Parks and Recreation Committee
in which the Committee respeet~l~ ~ted the following:
A meeting took place on Tuesday, June 27, 1972 between the Aurora ~ &
Recreation Committee, the Aurora Lawn Bowling Club and the Aurora Tennis
Club,
In attendance were: Councillors N, Stewart, P. Miller, Committee Members
M, Dawson, F, Caruso,R, Blick and E, Batson, Mr, Gary Knowles represented
the Aurora Tennis Club and Mr. Lambert Wilson and Mr, St. John represented
the Aurora Lawn Bowling Club, This meeting was called to discuss the existing
facilities in use atMcMahon Park and the proposed new kitchen addition,
Mr. Knowles stated that for the past two years both the Tennis Club and the
Lawn Bowling Club have worked together on a most amicable basis and that every
time the Tennis Club hadasked for use of the Club facilities this request
had been granted, Mr. St. Jchn stated that last weekend the Tennis Club
had used the building and it had been left in fine order, as has been done in
the past, In discussing the new kitchen addition, Mr. L, Wilson was of the
opinion that one of the two clubs must be in controland as the Lawn Bowling Club
has approached the Lions Club for the financing of this addition and as all
equipment in the kitchen was the property of the Lawn Bowling Club that said
club should be in control,
Councillor Stewart was of· the opinion that the Town would not agree to such a
proposal, as it was town property and the Lions Club was turning the money over
to the Town for the building of the kitchen; he was of the opinion that as it
was town property both organizations should have the same rights, Considerable
discussion took place regardingthe washroornfacilities which, evidently,
had been left unlocked several nights after use by members of the Tennis Club
Several suggestions were made and the Town is being approached as to the poss-
ibility of connecting these washrooms to the sewers now being built in the
new Wimpey subdivision, The s~ptic tank in the washrooms is obviously nat
functioning pxperly; this this request,

stated that he would arrange to have the washrooms locked at the conclusion
of the evening tennis program,
A suggestion is to be put to Council that the present paking lot be enlarged
and graded. Mr. Wilson stated that with the new addition a large storage
room would be available under the kitchen, and suggested that the Tennis
Club use part of this storage,
Mr. Knowles was of the very definite opinion that the new facilities
should be made available to the Aurora Tennis Club, although said club
would not use any of the lawn Bowling Club's utensils, only requiring a
small area and a rlug in for an electric kettle as plastic cups and plates
were always used,
Counciiior Miller suggested that if both clubs were not in accord on the subject
that Recreation Administrator, E. Batson, should meet with the two groups
and resolve any differences that might arise, The Aurora Tennis Club is to
forward to the Aurora Lawn Bowling Club a schedule of events, with those
events noted where the kitchen facilities would be required,
