Miller, Committee Members M, Dawson, F, Caruso,R, Blick and E, Batson, Mr, Gary Knowles represented the Aurora Tennis Club and Mr. Lambert Wilson and Mr, St. John represented the Aurora Lawn Bowling Club, This meeting was called to discuss the existing facilities in use atMcMahon Park and the proposed new kitchen addition, Mr. Knowles stated that for the past two years both the Tennis Club and the Lawn Bowling Club have worked together on a most amicable basis and that every time the Tennis Club hadasked for use of the Club facilities this request had been granted, Mr. St. Jchn stated that last weekend the Tennis Club had used the building and it had been left in fine order, as has been done in the past, In discussing the new kitchen addition, Mr. L, Wilson was of the opinion that one of the two clubs must be in controland as the Lawn Bowling Club has approached the Lions Club for the financing of this addition and as all equipment in the kitchen was the property of the Lawn Bowling Club that said club should be in control, Councillor Stewart was of· the opinion that the Town would not agree to such a proposal, as it was town property and the Lions Club was turning the money over to the Town for the building of the kitchen; he was of the opinion that as it was town property both organizations should have the same rights, Considerable discussion took place regardingthe washroornfacilities which, evidently, had been left unlocked several nights after use by members of the Tennis Club Several suggestions were made and the Town is being approached as to the poss- ibility of connecting these washrooms to the sewers now being built in the new Wimpey subdivision, The s~ptic tank in the washrooms is obviously nat functioning pxperly; this this request, \ "~-~~---·---~--------------------· -~---------·---------------- REGULAR MEETING -10-JULY 4th, 1972 REPORTS OF COMMITTEES CONT' D As the playgrcund supervision commences on Tuesday, July 4th, the leader in McMahon Park is to be given a key for the washrooms and upon the completion of her programme wti.ll eee that the washrooms are locked. Mr. Knowles stated that he would arrange to have the washrooms locked at the conclusion of the evening tennis program, A suggestion is to be put to Council that the present paking lot be enlarged and graded. Mr. Wilson stated that with the new addition a large storage room would be available under the kitchen, and suggested that the Tennis Club use part of this storage, Mr. Knowles was of the very definite opinion that the new facilities should be made available to the Aurora Tennis Club, although said club would not use any of the lawn Bowling Club's utensils, only requiring a small area and a rlug in for an electric kettle as plastic cups and plates were always used, Counciiior Miller suggested that if both clubs were not in accord on the subject that Recreation Administrator, E. Blair enquiring about the proposed changes in their schedule, 1972-73 season, The Committee recommends that representatives of the Aurora Minor Hockey Association be invited to appear at the next parks and recreation committee meeting to further discuss this, 4.
