presented the various detailed plans, that had been submitted to the Council
and Planning Board at various times in the past, in order to revie'1 the progress
to.date. Mr.Won ><as advised that sideyards did not meet the Zoning By-La\1
requirements and Mr. Won agreed to re-design the building.

The 1971 Council in Committee met on Monday, December 28, 1970 at 8:00 P.M.
The following members ><ere present: Mayor Illingworth, Councillor Harris,
Davis, Henderson, Williamson & Miller.
The follo><ing items were discussed:
1. Letter ?.l~69 from the Volunteer Fire Brigade and referred to Finance

The request from the Volunteer Fire Brigade was discussed so that the Finance
Committ·ae could obtain a consensus of opinion prior to meeting t•rith
representatives of the Brigade. If possible, the meeting is to be arranged
for 7:30 P.H. on Tuesday, January 5, 1971, prior to meeting of Council.

Committee of Adjustment for the term of office as shown:

6. Recommendations for Appointment to South Lake Simcoe Conservation
Reference is made to the Region of York letter dated December 23, 1970 request-
ing trio names recommended by the Aurora Council for appointment by the Regional
Council to the newly organized South Lake Simcoe Conservation Authority.
It is recommended that the following names be submitted to the Regional Council:
Lambert Wilson
Mayor R. A. Illir3worth.
7. Recommendation for Appointment to Metro Toronto Conservation Authority
It is -recommended that Ray Jennings be re -appointed a representative to the
NIetro Toronto Conservation Authority, as he previously represented the Tovmchip
of Ring and now resides in Aurora and the Regional Council be advised
accordingly.
S. Interim Taxation Levv 1971
The Treasurer's report of December 16, 1970 was discussed and it was agreed
that for the year 1971 that there would be 2 interim paymm to, approximately
March 17 and May 12 and 3 regular payments after the budget has been struck
and that the interim payment would be based on a straight 10 mill levy for all
areas.
It is recommended that the necessary by-law be prepared.
9. Employees Over 6�ears of Age
In accordance with the previous policy of Council it is recommended that the
Finance Committee interview all Town staff who will be 65 years of age or
-- over during 1971 and submit recommendations to Council in Committee.
10. By-wLaes Review
It is recommended that the Finance Committee and the Clerk or Deputy Clerk
review all Town By -Laws, and prepare a report recommending the cancellation
of those by-laws which are no longer required and to forward to the respective
committee all other by-laws which require up -dating.
11. Damage Review Board
The report of the Damage Review Board was discussed and it is recommended that
action be taken as outlined in the report.
12. The Aurora Drama Workshop
The Correspondence with the Aurora Drama Workshop was reviewed regarding the
necessity to rent accommodation for the rehersals of their forthcoming pro-
duction. It was unfortunate that suitable arrangemento could not be made to use
one of the schools and that it was necessary to rent accommodation.

It is recommended that a grant of $50.00 be made to the Drama Workshop as a
part payment for the rental accommodation, and that they be advised in future
to contact Council prior to the rental of accommodation.

The letter from the Air ~~agement Branch dated December 22, 1970, granting
pennicsion to burn the Christmas Trees on January 8, 1971 \'Jas discussed.. It

l'lr, Ko B. Rodger, Clerk, gave a verbal report on a staff meeting held on
Monday, Janua~; 4, 1971. He reported that three important items arose from
the meeting as follows: a brochure advising the new residents of Aurora on
the services and programs available; the necessity for a new Horks Department
site; and the requirement of mobile radios for the Works Department. A
tlritten report uill be submitted.
l'Jayor Illing•10rth requeoted that the Finance Committee prepare a brochure,
and that the Horks Dept. site be referred to the Public Works Committee and
the Planning and Development Committee for a joint atudy, ancl that the Public
Works Committee study and report on the mobile radios.
