Hayor Illingworth presented a report of the Special Committee in which the Committee respectfully submitted the follouing: _A meeting of the Citizen of the Year Committee was held on Thursday, June 25th, 1970 at 8:00 P.N. in accordance with l'Iinutes of Council dated }larch 31, 1970. V~yor Illingworth, Reeve Buck, Mr. R. Buchanan of the Aurora Banner, Mr. D. Bell, Principal Regency Acres Public School and Hr. L. Tadman, Principal of St. Joseph'c Separate School were appointed members of the Committee and all ~rere present. A total of eight nominations "ere received from the follo•nng nine organization" or individuals: ·r •. o.D.E., Mrs. Loraine Pattercon, Friendship Circle (Senior Citizens), Lions .Club, Hr. H. Shaw, Optimist Club, Regency Acres Home and School Association, Royal Canadian Legion, E. B. Griffith. ·The Aurora Figure Skating Club regretted they were unable to submit a ·nomination due to lack of time. Due to the outstanding attributes of the citizen's.·nominated, it ''as most difficult to make a decision. Your Cormnittee h'aa"to take a very b·oad view and select a citizen who ''as active in the community in sevexal fields of interect., After much discussion, your Committee selected Mr., Robert Blick an the Citizen of the Year, and arrangemento ::Jere made to announce the tiinner and make the presentation during the opening of the cercmonie8 at 0:00 P.,l-1., on Tuesday, June 30th, 1970. COUNCIL IN COl'ilUTTEE REPORT NO. 201 CONT'D 1. A meeting of the Council in Committee with Del Zotto Homes Ltd. was held on June 22, 1970 at 9.:!,5 P.l1. All members of Council w·ere present, along ;'lith J. D. Reid and ~ir. D. Se\•Jsrd and Mr. Del Zotto. The Connnittee recommends that the Tolm Engineer be authorized to prepare the plans and specifications for the road and services, and that the To~m will call the tenders for Phase 1, being the portion from Wellington Street to the South Limit o<' the Del Zotto Property and the storm sewer to the creek. A further report will be available at a future date along with the Engineer'o reporto 2. ~bdel Builders Re Swimming Pool Repairo -The Committee recommends that the letter from Hodel Builders be aclmowledged and that a meeting of the Finance Committee, To~ Engineer and Clerk and Hr. Dol be arranged at a mutually agreeable time. 3. Asphalt Patching Tenders -Three tenders were received for the Asphalt Patching of various streets ao follows: King City Paving Co.
