REGULAR SIDEWALKS ON TECUMSEH DR ONTARIO HOUSING CORPORATION AURORA FIGURE SKATING CLUB (2) AUGUST 14, 1967 A petition from the residents on Tecumseh Drive against the construction of sidewalks on Tecumseh Drive (21 names). DAVIS, W: MURRAY: 'Resolved that the construction of sidewalks on Tecumseh Drive, be held in a. beyance at this time • . CARRIED A letter from the Ontario Housing Corporation that they are sponsoring the 15th. Annual Housing Corporation in ottawa from September 11th. -13th. WILLIAMSON: MURRAY: 'Resolved that the letter be received and filed. CARRIED A letter from the Aurora Figure Skating Club, expressing their appreciation for the grant from the Town of Aurora. DAVIS, W: BUCK: 'Resolved that the letter be received and filed. CARRIED Reeve Murray in the Chair Mayor Davis presented a report of the Committee of the Whole PHASE 2, SUNNYBROOK SUBDIVISION The Council in Committee met on Monday July 31, 1967. Present were: Mayor Davis, Reeve Murray, Councillors Buck, Corbett, Illingworth and Trent. The meeting was called to discuss the Development of Phase 2 of Sunnybrook Subdivision. Mr. Walker, Solicitor for White Strip Construction Co. Ltd. and Mr. Kelnor, OWner of Block A, presented their views. White Strip Construction has offered to purchase all of Phase 2 of Plan 517, except for Block A, from Verjam Developments. lihite Strip Construction would require some assurance from the Town that they could build the Houses prior to the d£finite purchase of the property and that Block A, would not impede the issuance of Building Permits. DAVIS, C: WILLIAMSON: 'Resolved that the report of Council in Committee dated August 8, 1967 Re Phase 2, Sunnybrook Subdivision be accepted. REGULAR (3) AUGUST 14, 1967 Mayor Davis presented a report of the Committee of the Whole FLOODING The Council in Committee met with representatives of the Ontario Water Resources Commission on Thursday, July 27, 1967 to discuss the Flooding Problems in Regency Acres. The o.w.R.C. feel that this is a serious situation from a Health and Polution Stand Point. A letter should be sent by the Town , explaining the proposals for the solution to the problem and asking for the approval of the o.w,R.C. The Town Engineer presented the following solution: 1. All down spouts in the area are to be extended away from the homes. This would also be beneficial to the Sewage Treatment Plant. 2. The existing relief sewer to be enlarged and lowered and checked valves be installed in the sewer connections where necessary. 3. The cost would be approximately $5,000.00 Construct an oversize By-pass sewer at an approximate cost of $15,000.00 and this would be connected to the proposed cossar Development as a relief Sanitary sewer and would form part of the Town's Sanitary sewer system. DAVIS, C: 'Resolved that the report of the Committee of the Whole, dated July 31, 1967 be accepted. WILLIAMSON: CARRIED Mayor Davis presented a verbal report concerning the letters sent by the Aurora Public School Board to the residents of Kennedy St. West in the Town- ship of King. Possicly the School Board has reasons for asking for a monthly fee from the residents, but in 1957 the Town negotiated with the Township of King to annex part of King ToW11ship at the south end of Town and at that time an agreement was signed by the To>;nship of King, the Aurora Public School Board, and the Town of Aurora, that any school children on Kennedy St., in King, were to be able to attend the public school in Aurora at no charge to the parents or King Township. DAVIS, C: WILLIAMSON: 'Resolved that a letter be sent to the Aurora Public School Board asking why , after knowing this agre'ement for ten years , they are not accepting the same now. CARRIED :---~"-·"~""'""''"'"~~J-=«-=·''''="'""-•-'•''••'"'''"'''='-~~-=~-·-·~ .. --'-"~-.....,...-··"~ ~· ~ ~ ~- I . , I 15 REGULAR II I (4) AUGUST 14, 1967 Mayor Davis in the Chair POLICE COMMITTEE LOCATION OF DIRECTORY SIGN ON MURRAY DRIVE PLANNING COMMITTEE Deputy Reeve Witliamson presented a report of the Police Committee Councillor Trent, Deputy Reeve Williamson and Mayor Davis met with Mr. William Stoddart, Mr. Jack Chapman and Members of the Aurora Lions Club, on July 27, 1967, to discuss the location of the Directory sign on Murray Drive. After due consideration, and since no problems were for seeable, the Committee hereby recommends that the location of the Directory sign on Murray Drive remain unaltered. WILLIAMSON : BUCK: 'Resolved tl:lat the report of the Police Committee re Location of Directory sign "on Murray Drive, dated Aug. 14, 1967 be accepted • CARRIED Deputy Reeve Williamson presented a verbal report on the land exchange between Tony Vanderloo and the Town. A survey is to be prepared along with the Quit Claim Deed and does the Council have a preference for who prepares the survey? MURRAY: BUCK: ' 'Resolved that the Chairman of the Planning Committee, along with the Building Inspector, hire an Ontario Land Surveyor. CARRIED Deputy Reeve Williamson reported that A. & w. Drive-in Restaurant is interested in locating in Aurora at the South-end. WORKS COMMITTEE received as follows. WILLIAMSON: MILLER: 'Resolved that the report be referred to the Planning Committee and the Building Inspector and a report be submitted to Council. CARRIED Councillor Davis pres~nted a report of the Works Committee Four Tenders for the resurfacing of Algonquin Cres. were K. J. J. Beamish Construction Limited for the resurfacing of Algonquin Cres. in the amount of $20,820.10 be accepted, and the Seal of the Corporation be attached hereto. CARRIED Reeve Murray reported that this By-law was not registered and it is impractical to do so because of the cost of registering. "Resolved that the resolution be amended to read, subject to the Town Solicitor explaining the By-law to the Council. CARRIED 'Resolved that Mr. T. McPherson be replaced as the Town's Solicitor. 'Resolved that the Town Solicitor be invited to attend before members of Council to explain any involvement or conflict of interest between his acting in the capacity of representing any Subdivision. CARRIED Councillor Miller reported that soil from the lot behind the Liquior Store has been washed onto the sidewalk by the rain on several occasions. MILLER: DAVIS, W: 'Resolved that a. letter be sent to Mr. Case requesting him to sod and peg this area. CARRIED Councillor Miller reported that a resident on Murray Drive hae a barberry hedge along the curb and he has had two complaints of children falling in the hedge and also it is a traffic hazard. REGUALR BY-LAWS BY-LAW # 1744-67 BY-LAW # 1746-67 MILLER: BUCK: (6) AUGUST 14, 1967 'That leave be given to introduce a By-law requiring the owners of privately ownen outdoor swimming pools to erect and maintain fences and gates around such pools and that the same be now read a first time. CARRIED The By-law was read a first time. CARRIED 'That the By-law now before the Council be read a third time this day and that Rule 22 of By-law # 1468 be suspended for that purpose. R.S.O. 1960, Chapter 249 and that the same be now read a first time. CARRIED That the By-law now before the Council be read a second time and that the Council resolve itself into a committee of the whole for that purpose. CARRIED 'Resolved that the second reading be taken as read. CARRIED That the By-law now before the Council be read a third time this day and that Rule 22 of By-law No. 1468 be suspended for that purpose. CARRIED 'Regolved that, upon the approval of the Ontario Municipal Board of a Capital Expenditure for the acquisition of a Historic Railway Museum in the Town of Aurora, a special Meeting of Council be convened to appoint a Board of Management consisting of five members in accordance with R.s.o. 1960, Chapter 249, Section 377 69 (e)." And be it further resolved that since the establishment of a Historic Railway Museum is contingent upon the appz?val of the Ontario Municipal Board that immediate a~plication to the Board be made for approval of th6e Capital Expenditure.
