accusation made again~t himself in a so-called ''Leak'; to the
press regarding the development of Aurora Orchards Subdivision,
and explaining his part in the publishing of the details of
the proposed subdivision.
Mr. Shankman re11[Uested. permission to ap!'ear personally before
Council.

Mr.L. Shanlanan stated he did not belief1!he had "broken faith''
a~ he had no idea the meeting was private and received the
impression nis proposal was favourablf received and the press
had come to him. He also said he thoUght he deserved the
courtesy from some member of Council to have called him before
allegations were made in the press and he felt he was only
guilty of confirming the local press story.
Mayor Davis informed Nr. Shankman that the matter was
referred to the Planning Board for study and report to
Council before any approval could be given but it had hit the
papers first, The Mayor thanked Mr. Shankman for appearing and
clearing the air.

Board on Wednesday, Noevember 10,1965, at 8.00 p.m. for the
purpose of discussing future plans concerning growth in the
~own of and in particular school reqmirements · at present
and in the future.
General discussion took place and numerous items were
brought forward by Council members and members of the School
Boards.
It may be summarized that copies of all plans concerning any
future subdivision project be made available to all sehool
boards for future planning purposes. This would appear
imperative in order that the School Boards may plan for the
necessary school sites deemed required and of course extension
of school facilities.
It was generally considered by all members that Council 1·rould
keep all school boards duly informed of any expansion plans.

which the Committee respectfully submit the following:
The Committee met and discussed the Knowles property directly
behind the Griffith property and it is recommended that
the Council obtain a plot plan of privately o1.ned property
and rights of ~y within the boundaries of Wellington St.
Mosley and Yonge and Victoria Streets.

The Fire Committee, along with Fire Chief H.R.Jones·met on
November 13,1965, for the purpose of opening tenders for a
triple combination pumper booster and hose truck.
Three tenders were received within the stipulated time limit
and are as follows!

FIRE TRUCK

The Committee therefore recommends that the tender (which has been
ver •ified with the Tmm speci.fication requirements) of Pierre
Thibault (Canada) Limited in the amount of ~26,086.00 be
accepted and approved by Council.
The Comiittee further recommends that the necessary application
be submitted to the Ontario Municipal Board for app10oval
of this capital expenditure and that application be made to the
Ontario Fire ~larshall for a grant towards the cost of this fire
vehicle.
The Committee might also mention that the tender of
Thibault Limited is for a completely Canadian made truek and
the delivery date is specified as the earliest of thetenders
received.

Deputy Reeve Simmons presented a report of the Special Committee
in which the Committee respectfully submit the following:
The Special Hinter Recreational program Co:rmnittee, !'let on
November 11,1965, along 1d th member" of the l·!inor Hockey As soc •
The Hiner Hockey League presented a financial statement and set
forth the follm<ing items.
1. They wi"h to maintain their t·l,200.00 and will have at least
an additional t3,000.00 to raise.
2. Their are ten teams playing at various areans, l:lchomber~>;,
Keswick, Bradford.
3. The Recreation Committee ;Till set up house leagues in the
parks. (Atoms and Pee 1Vees.)
4. Hockey Rink cushions will be erected the third week in
November. The Minor Hockey and Reereation Hockey will use
outdoor rinks for practice.
5. A truck to carry hose to various locations is re~uired.
6. There are six goal frames required at a cost of $22.00 , 2
nets required also.
7. The Committee recommend the construction of a permanent
field house in the Tmm Park consistin~>; of a frame structure
on a cement pad.

with King Township Volice Committee re the despatching Service
and he would discuss this at next 11onilay's {llov. 22) Committee
in Council meeting. ·
Councillor Hilliamson verbally reported receiving a req_uest
from the Separate School Board for a crossing guard at Aurora
Heights and Yonge ST. and a recommendation from Constable
Lougheed.

Councillor Corbett verbally reported that the P.C.C. digester
should be cleaned out by this week and they 1<ould try and
seal inside the top to elreminate gas leaks and put in a new
gas pipe.

Deputy Reeve Simmons verbally reported that Mr. Pope of the
Ontario Fire Marshall's STaff had completed his survey of Aurora
Fire prevetion requirements and would report by mid-December
Mr.Pope asked Deputy Reeve Simmons to thank Mayor Davis, Clerk
Johnson and the Town Staff for their co-operation.

date to be set to discuss this matter.

Councillor Illingworth referred to a letter received from
Attorney General A.A. Wishart, as recorded in August 16th Council
minutes, re the Emergency Heasures Act and asked that this matter
be considered on November 29th. and the E.!-1.0, CO-ORDINATION
be requested to attend.
Councillor l:l. Davis said he noted that the recent motion granting
town \forks employees a 25 cent per hour increase in wages had not
included salaried men and some workmen were receiving more than
foremen.

re streets not accepted officially by the Town and a report to cone
from lvorks Col'lmittee and Town Engineer which has not been received.
He quoted from the aNunicipal World" that if roads are repaired
and maintained by a Municipality they are considerad "Assuned
roads" , but asked that a check be made to see if we have taken
over all streets in the Town.
