Council's endorsement of a New Toronto petition for a 15 M.P.H,

Aurora Council's protest of the amount of authority given to
the Ontario Police co~ission to control Municipal Police
matters, which he will discuss with his colleagues.

to hold a fund raising drive.

Clerk Johnson reported receiving a request from Mr. Larkin
for permission to tag at the Aurora Ahopping Centre on April 9th
and lOth for the United Nations.

From Mrs. E. Buck, 26 Holman Cres. asking that n~icenses
be issued to ice cream Vendors, stating they are a 1nuisance
and create a traffic hazard to children.

Mayor Davis Presented a report of Council in Committee in
which the Committee respectfully submit the foliliowing:
Gouncil in Committee met on Thursday, March 25,1965 to
discuss eliminating the Capital Levy on 64 suite apartment
in Golf Glen Terraces.
The Committee hereby recommend that the Apartment Levy
remain as set.
DAVIS: "Resolved that the report of Council in Committee
re Levy on Apartments in Golf Glen Terraces be
accepted."
SIMMONS:
Carried.
Mayor Davis presented a report of Council in Committee in
which the Committee respectfully submit the following:
Council in Committee met with members of the Planning Board
on Tuesday, March 30,1965 and the folloxing was recommended
1. That the Planning Board undertake a study and report their
opinions concerning recommendations of suggested new
geographical boundaries of Aurora.
2.
q./ That a letter be forwarded to Mr. John Person, Department
of Planning and Development, inviting him to a joint meeting
such as this evening, to outline the duties, responsibili·-
ties; and powers of Planning Boards and that the Clerk,
Building Inspector and County Planning Consultant be in
attendance.
DAVIS: "Resolved that the report of Council in Committee
dated April 5 ,1965 be approved." SIMMONS:

Mayor Davis verbally reported that in compliance with a
resolution made at the Special Council meeting he had
appointed Reeve Patrick and Councillors Murray and
Illingworth to accompany him and interview· Mr. Shankman
of the C.B.C. and ask that the industrial land at Yonge St.
South and the town limits be developed.
The Mayor stated that after a discussion they readily agreed
that the area should be improved and they offered to go
in as soon as weather permits and level off and clean . it
up.
FIRE COMMITTEE -Deputy Reeve Simmons presented a report
of the Fire Committee in which the Committee respectfully
submit the following:
The Fire Committee met on Wednesday evening, March 31,1965
to discuss the purchase of a mobile radio unit to be
installed in a fire vehicle which will allow two-way
radio c.:mtact at all times between the police department
dispatchers and the fire truck.
The Committee therefore recommend the purchase of the
following unit •

This amount was allowed for in the 1965 budget estimates of the Fire Deparmtnet
although the amount now recommended is slightly higher due to the cost of
converting from 6 volt to 12 volt.

Radio Unit, at a cost of $623.15 be approved and the Seal of the
Corporation be attached hereto,"

POLICE COMMITTEE -Councillor Williamson presented a report
of the Police Committee in which the Committee respectfully
submit the following:

Aurora for a cab driver's license be approved.

"Resolved that the report of the Police Committee
re Cab Driver's License, dated april 5,1965
be accepted."

POLICE COMMITTEE -Councillor Williamson verbally reported
that P.C. Ted McClenny had resigned and he had been ask~d
to re-consider but said he had accepted another position •
with King Township. Office McClenny stated h ~ was bound
by the Police Act to not say anything about the Aurora Police
Department or his reasons for resigning.

"Resolved that Chief Constable Langman be asked
to attend a meeting on Thursday night.
Carried.
PARKS COMMITTEEE _ Councillor Trent verbally asked for a
Parks Committee meeting at 10.00 a.m. April 15th.
WORKS CO!~ITTEE Counci~lor Murray verbally reported that the
past few days had been hectic due to the rather; peculiar
Spring with the heavy snow melting rapidly and causing
flooding but everything possible was being done •

that C. Quantz had been selected to attend the O.W.R.C. Basic
Sn.wage \ITorks Operators 1 Course and he had been instructed to
make a report .

attend the Sewage Works Operators' Course being
held by the Ontario Water Resources Commission from
May 31st. to June 4th. 1965

Councillor Murray introduced Mr. D. Sheridan of 13 Ottawa Court
and asked that he be heard.
WILLIAMSON:

"Resolved that the rules of procedure requir81!lent
be waived and Mr. Sheridan be heard."
Carried.
Mr. Sheridan said the drainage from the Aurora Orchards farm raa·

Councillor Murray asked that he be given authority to get
Proffessional advice and do something about it.
Deputy Reeve Simmons said this is a problem that is all thru
this whole area and needs a solution.

on the 2Tth re Planning Board duties.
Mayor Davis said the 1965 tax bills would be going out
this week end.

to set up a Committee to Obtain funds and erect a
Community Centre and that the same be now read a
first time.

The By-law was then read a first time.

Yonge and Wellington and a delay in getting an amb~ance.

Councillor Trent read a written submission about remote
station fire alarm system to protect town buildings.
