From Mr. George Walker, 27 Catherine Ave. requesting t:1e
Town to bear the cost of new water pipe laid from the

the $50.00 paid by him for the new service.

Mr. C. Taylor appeared before Council regarding the
issuance of a building permit to construct a house on
Kennedy Street West. General discussion followed and the
following resolution duly enacted:

"Resolved that the Town grant permission to
issue a building permit provided the follm;ing
arrangements are mutually agreeable:
1. Building Inspector to govern location of building on
lot.
2. Building not to be constructed too low so that there
is no problem with a sewer connection.
3. Sidewalk to be lowered for a driveway at the owner's
expense.
4. Should a culvert be required owner to purchase same
and Town will carry out the installation."

Mr. Don Glass, speaker for several membe.l:'s of the Parking
Committee of the Board of Trade, appeared before Council
concerning their desire to have constructed a parking lot
in area immediately behind the Canadian Imperial Bank of
Commerce building and letters allowing the usage of this
area for parking were received from those entities
involved. Mr. Glass stated the monie.s were a#ailable for
this project and guaranteed payment of hal.t t'he cost 6r
$200.00 should the cost exceed $300.00 •

Works Committee to grade and level the
proposed parking area by the To~ Works

Reeve Stoddart reported that a letter had been forwarded to
Mr. W.A. Wolstenholme, 53 Knowles Court. concerning an
Assessment problem referred from the last Council meeting.
Deputy Reeve Moffat reported that 40 trees had been planted,
23 on Murray Drive and 14 on Aurora Heights Drive and 3 on
Wells St. The Deputy Reeve reported that extra bags of
bonemeal had been used in the planting and that the trees
planted a year ago would. be re··tied and helped along.
Councillor Williamson presented a report of the Police
Committee in which the Committee reppectfully submit the
following:
"That the application of Thomas Keith Thorpe, R.R. # 2
for cab operator's license be approved."

Councilor Simmons presented a report of the Services
Committee in which the Committee respectfully submit
the following:
Complaints were received concerning the matter of
numerous rats infesting certain areas in the Regency
Acres Subdivision. An inspection of the area was made
to-gether with Mr. Greenan of the York County Health
Unit and rats were found to be harbouring in holes
along the banks of a drainage easement on Davis Rd.
The York County Health Unit subsequently ordered the
Town to abate these conditions within 14 days and
recommended the services of an exterminator be engaged
for this purpose.
The Committee therefore contacted :P.c.o. BerviC'es
Limited of Toronto and entered into a contract ·.,with
that firm to perform a pest control service for Aurora.
The cost of this service is an initial fee of $35.00
and $12.00 per month thereafter, terminated at any
time on a written 30 day notice. 11

Council in Committee and a representative or
representatives of Consolidated Building
Corporation Limited on Monday, November 9th.
1964 at the hour of 8.00 p.m. Council
desires this meeting to discuss the
situation regarding the referred to area."

Councillor Williamson remarked that oil had appeared
in the creek back of Wenderly Drive once again, It was·
decided to request Mr. 0. Sauro to attend a meetin'g' on
Monday,November 9,1964 re thi!s problem. ·
Councillor Jones stated that Mr. Ivan Daniels still had
not received the deed to the land he purchased from
the Town
Councillor !4anning advised that the vision north from
Aurora Heights Drive on Yonge Street had been greatly
improved. That the Supertest Station owners be
congratulated for their co-operation and requested the
newspapers to publish this item accordingly.

Mayor Davis enquired concerning Mr. Barr's probl.em :that
. ' f·· . was referred to Planning Committee and Councill Manfiihg
advised that since this was not a minor variance it
required further study and this was being done.
Mayor Davis advised that no letter had been received
from the consulting engineers regarding the proposed
Sewage Treatment Plant.
Councillor Williamson stated that steps were in dire
need leading up to the Police Station entrance.

flagstones be placed in 8" risers to
provide .. steps into the Police Office .• "

Mayor Davis mentioned the matter of Mr. Rubber's driveway
at Yonge Street, South and stated this would be brought
forward again after Council members had an opportunity
to make themselves familiar with the situation.

Councillor Simmons stated that patktng limit signs were
needed on the west side of Yonge St. from Tyler St; South
in accordance with the Town By-law. It was deCided that
the necessary signs be ordered.
Councillor Simmons enquired of the signs placed on Block
"G" , Yonge St. as to who approved and who receives the
rent. Mayor :·'avis advised that the Town approved and had
received $100.00 yearly rental.
Deputy Reeve Moffat brought forward the matter of the
High School appeal.

"Resolved this matter be held in abeyance
at this time."

Councillor Willia!Leon mentioned a flag was missing at the
Cenotaph and was advised it would be replaced this week.
The matter of the cust of cutting grass at the cenotaph
was held over pending a report of that Committee to be
obtained by the Reeve.
Mayor Davis stated that nomination night was November 19th
and it was customary for each chairman to present a repor+
on their committees for the year. Councillor Williamson
suggested the order of procedure be reversed in that the
Mayor speak last.
