advising that the Consulting Engineering report on the
Sewage Works programme had been reviewed and he would
discuss this report at the special Committee of the Whole
meeting Monday, September 14tb,.

and Mr.· Barr be advised that members of the
Oakville firm of Procor, Smith and Lawless
would also attend the meeting to suggest a type
of sewage treatment plant for Council's
consideration."

Mayor Davis presented a report of the Committee of the
Whole in which the Committee respectfully submit the
following:
The Committee of the Whole met at 8,00 p.m. Monday,
August 31st. and recommend the following matters:
1, Decided on the form of a brief to be presented to the
arbitrators on Tuesday, September 1st;
2, Considered a letter received from Mr. S'auro· in reply
to the Engineer's report forwarded to him and Committee
agreed to accede to several requests and insist that
specifications in the agreement be adhered to on four
items,.
3 Councillor Jones, reported receiving advice that an
Oakvil],e f:i:rm has stated they can solve the Sewage
problem at a much lower cost, It was decided to request
their appearance at a special committee of the whole
meeting on Monday, September 14th,
4, Decided t_9t request County Engineer J •. Rettie to put
additio~pavement on the curves at Haida Dr. and
Wellington Street.
HEATING OB WATER WORKS-
POLICE BUILDING 5 Decided to ask for prices on various types of furnaces
H. NORTON'S LAWN
and fuels.
6, Decided that Councillor Patrick and Reeve Stoddart
look at this lawn,

Discussion followed and it was decided to write

Deputy Reeve Moffat verbally reported that is the time
of year to consider the bus service problem if it is to be
voted on this year. Mr, Langdon did say he might run a
trial huE! E!ervice in the fall but it is too early yeat,
and he will require subsidizing,
Deputy Reeve Moffat· verbally reported the committee has'·
plans to plant some more trees after October 20th,
Reeve Stoddart~ presented a report of theFinance Committee
in which the committee respectfully submit the following:
The Finance Committee met on Friday, September 4th,l964 to
open the tenders received for the Towns' Insurance.
Subsequent to perusal and a study of the tenders received,
the Committee now recommend that an independant insurance
Counsellor be engaged to assist this committee in arriving
at the lowest insurance tender received,

meeting where the condition of the tennis court pavement
was discussed. Weeds are gn~Wing through the !J.oles and
·it 'is ·now too late for the Lions Club to take a~tion against
the contractor, Councillor Patrick stated he would have

Chairman Jones presented a report on the heating of the

Johnson replied that it will be published in the Banner for
2 weeks as required by the O,M.B.

SAFETY CAMPAIGN
Councillor Manning asked about the Zoning By-law and
Clerk~hnson replied it now requires pbulishing or a copy
of th~ by-law mailed to every property owner in Aurora and
a1l!'property owners abutting Aurora boundaries in adjacent
townships.
Mayor Davia reported that Haida Drive •aving and
sidewalk are finished and a committee of the whole meeting
will be held Tuesday September 15th. to deal with this.

"Resolved that a letter of sympathy be sent
to the Editor of the local paper, Dr. James
Johnston, re his recent bereavement of his
.... father.11

Councillor Williamson said he had received a complaint
that a fence had been erected at the end of Banff Dr.
obstructing the exist from Aurora Orchards.
Superintendant J. Browning stated the residents on
Banff Drive had complained of the tracking of mud onto the
streets.
WILLIAMSON:

"Resolved that a le~ter be sent to Mr. Martin
advising him that~ne wants to use roadway on
Banff Drive that he put in a proper gravelled
approach so no mud will be brought onto the
pavement. And the Town Superintendant to have
the posts taken down,"
Mayor Davis commended the Jaycee's for carrying on their
safety campaign to make everyone more safety conscious.

"Resolved that a letter be forwarded to the
Jaycee's extending Council's thanks for
providing the Town with the necessary cross-
walks and school zone safety warnings,"

Mayor Davis stated the Jaycess will be holding -,. 'ugo
in October on a Municipal Administration Course.
Councillor Child said it is of interest to the various
Industries in Town that thru the co-operation of Clerk
Johnson several persons on the welfare roll had become
emplo¥ed again and he thought that all Town employers
should be made aware of this.
Councillor Manning brought to Council's attention the
blocking of the view at busy corners by gas station
signs and parking of trucks,

"Resolved that a letter be sent to station
operators advising of this problera and requesting
their co-operation in removing ':~,~~e
obstructions".
Carried.
Councillor Child said a sinilar blocking of the view of
southbound traffic existed at Kennedy St. & Yonge St.

move his,paper box across the street and the
bench be moved half way down the block."
Carried.
Deputy Reeve Moffat suggested that a letter of condolences
be sent to the Webster family from Council on the recent
death of Mrs. Webster who has resided in Aurora, all her
life of almost 90 years. Her father was the first Town
Clerk.
