In May 13th minutes of Holland Valley Coneer•etion Authority
referring to a recommendation on drainage from the Department
of Agricilture was forthcoming,. This concerns Aurora's
Vanek Park Property.

From L. French requesting a sidewak on the east side of
Tecumseh Drive in front of Aurora Heights School.

"Resolved that Mr. L. French be advised his
request for a sidewalk on Tecumseh Drive has
been investigated and it is deemed not justified
as a storm sewer will be required in addition
to the sidewalk which will mean an expenditure
of some $2,000.00 and no money was allocated
for this purpose in the 1964 Budget."

From the Victorian Order of Nurses requesting a decision on
the extension of the service to Aurora.
WILLIAMSON: "Resolved that this matter be referred to the

tag day.
MOFFAT: "RESOLVED THAT PERMISSION BE GRANTED THE Loyal True

From Mrs. F. Murray asking for Sauro sub-division drainage
to be connecudto storm sewers on Kennedy Street West to prevent
surface water running across her property.

WILLIAMSON: "Resolved that copies of the correspondence of

Works, concerning the application for a customs
port of entry in Aurora be forwarded to the
Aurora Borad of Trade for their information and

Mayor Davis stated he had received a request from Dr. Urquhart,
Chairman of the High School Board, to be present this
evening but they are unable as additional information is
required and asked to be on the agenda of June 15th. 1964.
Mrs. Helen Groves, Hostess of "Hi Neighbour" explained her
Welcome Service for new Auvora residents which would be
sponsored by local merchants.
Deputy Reeve Moffat suggestad that Mrs. Groves appro~ch the
retail section of the Board of Trade as they are more
primarily concerned.
MOFFAT: "Resolved that Mrs. Groves contact Mr. • Thompson,
WILLIAMSON:or Mr. Richardson of the Aurora Board of Trade and
if they recommend it the Mayor will endorse this
service."

Mr. John Langdon was asked by Mayor Davis to report on the
bus service which he had operated from April 13th to May 29th.
Mr. Langdon distributed a profit and loss statement showing
revenue -$295.15, expenses $731.45, net loss $436.30 for
this seven week period. He stated that in nice weather
passenger traffic dropped but a bus might pay in the fall and
winter. Deputy Reeve Moffat and Mayor Davis thanked
Mr. Langdon and asked him to reconsider in the fall.
FINANCE -Deputy Reeve Moffat, Vice Chairman verbally reported
the Auditor's 1963 Financial Statement has been received
and copies will be made available to Council shortly and
published in Aurora Banner next week.

for 1963 be published in the local newspaper."

PARKS -Deputy Reeve Moffat, Chairman, verbally reported the
Parks Board regular meeting ia Wednesday June 3rd and the Vanek
Property matter would be considered.
PLANNING -Councillor Child, Chairman, verbally reported
that last Thursday evening the Planning Committee and other
Council members viewed the proposed apartment sites at Golf Glen
Sub-Division which are located on high land. Contour lines are
being prepared and when plot plans are received they will be
presented to council for appro~al and an agreement similar to a
sub-division will be entered into at that time,
Councillor Williamson -Chairman of the Police Committee
presented a report in which the Committee respectfully submit
the following:

The Police Committee met on Wednesday, May 27th.l964, at 7.00 p.m
to discuss the hiring of a new police offic~forthe ~own of
Aurora. The Committee recommend the following:
That Ivan Dwayne Lougheed - 6 Huron Court -Aurora be hired as
a First Class Constable, duties to commence on or about
June l5th.l964.

"Resolved that the Police Committee report, dated
June 1,1964 re the hiring of Ivan D. Lougheed as a
First Class Constable be approved and the Seal of
the Corporation be attached hereto."

PARKS -Deputy Reeve Moffat reported the need of two grass
mowers to catch up with the gr.ass cutting in the parks. Mayor
Davis advised Mr. Browning to hire another tractor with an
operator.
Mayor Davis extended council's good wishes of success to
Councillor Ron Simmons on his acquiring the Aurora Frosted Foods
business,
Geuncillor Manning stated he observed $60.00 damage done to an
auto which hit a manhole cover on Haida Drive and auggested
signs "use at own risk" be posted. He asked if tenders for
the roads had been called and Mayor Davis replied that the
Consultant Engineer would be here at 3.00 p.m. Tuesday and
will meeet Council at 7.00 p.m. next Monday June 8th on several
matters.
Councillor Williameon reported receiving complaints re ditch
drainage of the tennis court which will require tiling.
Councillor Williamson with some Council members will look at
this situation on Tuesday June 2nd. 1964.
Mayor Davissaid the culvert on Hillview Ave. under proposed
road at Slater property requires extending and asked the
Works Committee to look after this extension which will need a
catch basin.
Mayor Davis asked if the large water pump and motor which is
not being used should be advertised for sale. Councillor
Manning said the Special Water Development Committee should
consider this at a meeting to be called by the chairman.

had revised the agreement with King Township for Police
Dispatching service

"'Resolved that the Committee of the Whole Report
regarding the agreement between the Township of King
and the Town of Aurora regarding Dispatching Service
be approved and the Seal of the Corporation be
attached hereto and the necessary by-law be prepared.''

Deputy Reeve Moffat called attention to the 5oth anniversary
of the Elma Rebekah Lodge.
MOFFAT: "Resolved that a floral greeting be sent to

Mayor Davis stated that there was no meeting held in early
August last year and suggested the same arrangements for this
y.ear.
Mayor Davis reported Councillor Vic Jones had suffered a heart
attack and. Oouncillor Simmons, Chairman of Services Committee
reported that Co1lllcil's sympathy had been expressed.
Deputy Reeve Moffat suggested that the Municipal Office be
closed on Saturday mornings all year and this was referred
to the Finance Committee for finalization.
WILLIAMSON: "Resolved that the meeting adjourn."
