survey made in a~swer to request for the
Aurora Industrial Commission to establish
a theatre in Aurora and stating they are
not interested at present but it may be
possible in the future when the population
increases.

Board, a detailed report forecast and suggestions
for future arena operations,"

to the 1967 Confederation of
Centennial Committee and

Council as a Committee of the

Reeve Stoddart presented a report of the Finance
Committee in which the Committee respectfully
submit the following:
The Finance Committee met on April 28th, with other
council members to consider a renewal of the lease
of part of the public parking lot on the west side
of Yonge St., being property owned by Stedman Bros •
Ltd, and on which the present 10 year lease
terminates on the 30th day of June 1964,
The Committee recommends that the Lease hot be
renewed,
STODDI\RT: "Resolved that the report of the Finance
i\WFFAT: Committee dated May 4,1964 l:'e lease of
parking lot be accepted,"
Deputy Reeve Mrs, Moffat verbally reported the
Parks Board had discussed therroving of certain
sports to other parks and had not received a reply
from Holland Valley Conservation Authorities re-
drainage and etc. The, Glerk advised that they are
studying this matter according to the minutes
of their last meeting,
The Deputy Reeve asked for met to

Councillor Jones presented a report of the
Property Committee in wh~gh the c~mmittee respect-
fully submit the followir.i~c;
On Thursday April 30th,l964 the ~roperty Committee
along with other members of Council met to discuss
several i toms.
1, The secondary clarifyer at the sewage depart-
ment plant required repairing and the
Committee recommend these repairs be done at
an approximate cost of $700,00,
2, The Committee decided to hold up the matter
of the cement beams holding the ~alkway
until prices were obtained,
3. The Committee recommends that the present
greenhouse be torn down except for 3 beds,
which will be left covered for a hot house,
JONES: "Resolved that the report of the
WILLIAMSON: Property Committee dated May 4,1964
be accepted and the Seal of the
Corporation be attached hereto."

Property Committee in which the Committee respect-

The Committee recommend that the Town owned land
directly behind Ivan DanieLs property be sold to
him if satisfactory arr~~ements may be made
for its purchase,

that approval has been received from the
Department of Municipal affairs to use money from
the Capital Levy Fund to purchase a new Works
Department truck and he was getting :prices,

King Town.ship has agreed to pay ~~4,290, S.:.'l.nually
for Police Dispatching Service,
Councillor Patrick stated the committee has
underestimated the cost of this service and
asked for a recorded vote;

ChairmOJl Councillor Williamson verbally commented
on the report received for Chief La~gman regarding
the Tankmakian~omplaint about 'children throwing
stones·at his house. He noted the. Chief seemed
annoyed because·the.complaint went to the Chairman
instea.d of the ChJ.~f, Md sa.;i,d. a ta.x;payer has
every D'ight to come to the Police Committee.·
The Mayor stated,all Council members have received
a copy of the report for their information.

Councillor Simmons presented a report of the
By-law Committee in which the Committe respectfully
submit the following:
The By-laws Committee met on April 28th. with otlier
members of Council, lito study the propo'sed amend-
ments to the restricted speed limit by-law to cover
all of the Town School Zones,
It was decided to request the Department of Trans .
port to authorize the entire two--sub-divisions of
Regency Acres and Aurora Heights-Sunnybrook to be
designated as restricted speed zones by 25 m.p.h.

Deputy Reeve Moffat reported observing a flagrant
disregard of the "Stop,·" signs and the ·speed limit
and said it was a matter of enforcing the present
speed limit.
Councillor Jones said he did not see that it would
make. any difference what speed is.· designated as. at
times lO.m,p.l:l. is too fast and that the necessary
sig~~s would cost considerable aYJ.d he was for
enforc i:n~ the law as it now is .•
Cotmcillor Willi·amson stated the same conditions
and drag racing ex'isted on other streetsand he
would speak to·the Chief Constable •

stated they had no speeding problem due to the
condition of the road,
Deputy Reeve Moffat enquired as to the progress
of the towns co:urt action against r:!Jr, Kelner ,
CoQ~cillor Manning replied that it likely would
be 2 months but ]~. Kelner could stall all summer
mayor Davis asked if the road couU1 be repaired

Councillor.Ma:m1ing said the Town may be reimbursed
as the sub-divider has been given ~rle -

Deputy Reeve Mrs. Moffat enquired if the former
library was being mo,de use of and if the rental
fees were being received, Councillor 'Nillio,mson
replied that the building was being used a lot
and rentals have been paid,
Councillor Manning stated a business man complained
of lack of 1 hour : .limit parking signs and taxis
taking 4 spaces, and asked that signs be put up,
Councillor Child said it was dangerous to park in
this area because of so many student taking their
tests and instructors using Yonge St. fer learning
how to back into a parkin~ space and suggested
they be requested to use side streets,

Dr, Fowler to consider the repw~t of
the Cultural and Citizenship Committee,
Councillor Williamson stated this is
the day our former engineer Irurray
severs his employment with the Town
and was glad to see he has a better
job with more remuneration and wished
him luck, Reeve Stoddart also wished
him all the best in his new edneavoc~s.
Mayor Davis said he thought they were
expressing the feelings of all council
members,

of phone calls about the pigeons and the
building put up behind 64 Dunning Ave, which are
unsightly,
