Mr. s. Symington, protested about an alLeged
remark made by Deputy Reeve Mrs, Moffe:b,
referring to sandwiches sold by him, at
F:eeruary 3rd, Council mooting, In reply,
Deputy Reeve IVIrs. Moffat stated she had boon
mis~uoted in the press and her remark that
"competition is good for anyone and might"
moan better products" was apparently mis-
understood,
l'lfi.. R~n Crabtre.e, on behalf of Aurora Jaye.ees 1 presented to tho Mayor the sum of $214.44 which
is the profit on tho sale of light bulbs by the
Jaycees and $144.00 from the Safety Council,
toward tho cost of the crosswalk signs and
warning lights.
Mayor Davis accepted on behalf of Council
with thanks and congratulated the Jaycees on
their efforts in this project,
Fire Chief H, JONES reported on a mutual aid
meeting and a meeting of the Fire Chiefts
of York County with tho Warden and Commissioners
of York County ro installing radios in fire
trucks. Chief Jones asked for support by
Aurora County Council members.

Reeve Stoddart reported the Finance
Committee had several meetings re the 1964
budget and will bring to a committee of the
Whole next week,
Deputy Reeve Moffat stated Miss White had
expected her solicitor to forward her
Financial report and was surprised he had
not done so, A meeting will be arranged,

Councillor Jones reported he was trying to locate
a used tank for the P,C,C, Truck and has received
several prices on a new chasis but not enough to
make a decision,
Councillor S, Patrick presented a report of the
Works Committee:
The Works Committee investigated the cutting and
trimming of trees in Aurora and recommend that
this program be ccrricd out per attached list at
an approximate oost of $1,000,00 and that the
Aurora Hydro-Electric Comm, be authorized to
undertake this progam with the assistance of the
Town Works Department.

Trimming of trees, at an approximate
cost of $1,000, be approved and the
Seal of the Corporation be attached
hereto,"
Carried,
Councillor s. Patrick re~orted one new pump is
installed and providing ~s of water for peak
periods. The other two new pumps are ready for
service, It will take 3 to 9 months to clear
all mains,
Mayor Davis said the water is gradually clearing
up and would so so more rapidly when the mains can
be flushed,
Councillvr A .• Child reported progress on the
Zoning by-law at a recent meeting,
Coun~illor J, Williamson presented a Police Comm-
ittee report:

Mayor Davis reported that further-to a lette:tl
received from the Fire Department, re~uesting ~h
increase in their stipend, a meeting had beeri
held with representatives of King and Whitchurch
Townships and a tentative agreement reached to
increase the call rate by ~~15.00 subject to their
Councils • approval • (See Cornmi ttee report pagen~Jt)
Mayor Davis reported the Public School Board
would like to meet with Council after the new
Administrator is appointed.
Councillor J, Williamson reported the completion
of the crosswalk warning lights and later lowering.
Mayor Davis asked if the tenants of the Water Works
building would vacate by march 1st, Councillor
Jones replied he had talked with 1tr, Higgins and
was assured he would be out on time,

had contaeted the Engineer last July but owing to
shortage of water it was not possible to empLy
the reservoir,

Mayor Davis presented the Fire Chiefal report outlining the fo1lowing

It was ascertained that the average numer of men answering general
alarms and practices was 15,
Mayor Davis referred to a request of the Aurora Fire Department
dated March 16th, 1963 wherein the men requested an increase from
$4,00 per call to ~S5,00 per ca11 1 the Officers renumeration to be
raised $1,00 a call and the Fire Chief be reinbursed for all duty
calls after ordinary working hours, Me.yor Davis advised that this
request had been referred to 1964 for consideration between the
three municipalities,
General discussion ensued conc~rni~ the method of increasing charges
to the Townships i, e·, : Increase of stand'i>y payment or increase in
per call charges.
It was finally agreed by all present that the present call charge of
$100,00 for the first two hours be increased to $115. 00. Based on
calls experience~ in 1963 this would result in extra payments of
