had recommended in his inaugural speech to
clear up the water situation which was causing
concern to the Town.

From Aurora Recreation Committee advising
that member Mr. H, Staples has tendered his
resignation and three appointments are
required at this time,
Mayor Davis referred this letter to the
Committee of the Whole,
From J.W. Spooner, ~linister of Municipal
Affairs re safety of public buildings.

From Leonard R, Rosenberg, Aurora, appointee
to the York County Hospital Board, a report
of activities of the Board during the 1963
year.
Mayor Davis referred the report to the
Committee of the Whole and remarked that
this was a comprehensive and explicit report
and complimented Mr. Rosenberg.
From Miss s. White asking fol7a meeting with
Council to discuss the bus service franchise,
subsidy and bus stop signs, (Miss White
was also present at this meeting, )
Mayor Davis informed Miss White that the
"Special Bus and Transportation Committee"
would now deal with this matter,
Miss White said she would be unable to
continue operation after this m~nth without
financial assistance.

Dec, 30th, accounts steamer rental, that a

of hose and use the town steamer.

Deputy Reeve Moffat asked re-installation of
crosswalk lights,
Councillor Manning replied the 3 lights were
on order from the United States and would be
erected by Hydro men, The Jaycees have $180.
Councillor Child said cost would be $220,00
each, plus installation, charge .of 10 h<nn-s
each unit, Mayor Davis said this will cost
some money but will ha;ve to do something
before some-one is hurt and cost should be
known, Councillor Williamson said he would
speak to Hydro Manager Chas, Copland after
this meeting,
Councillor Jones stated the crosswalks warning
signs were at th.<e Works Department and would '
be erected when instructed where,
Mayor Davis requested Police Chairman William-
son to have a report ready for Monday Jan,20th
meeting,.
Mayor Davis stated that as Committees are
set up now ask you all to have your meetings-·
and present your budget estimates to Council
as soon as possible,
Councillor Jones suggested a revision of the
procedure by-law, After further discussion
by all council members the following
resolution was moved,

MOFFAT:
"Resolved that the By-laws Committee
be authorized to study and revise
the procedure by-law to bring the
terms of reference up to date 1 review a committee's authority and
raise the maximum amount a comm-
ittee may spend,·"
Carried,
Councillor Simmons, Chairman of By-Laws
Committee and the Mayor will call a Committee
of the Whole meeting to consider this proposed
revision,

Cou:~cillor Patrick said he had taken great interest
in the water situation and had given it a lot of
serious study, He suggested double pumping, and
different pumping arrangements which would not
require another new well, Engineer Murray asked
permission to take pictures of the new well casing
at a cost of $75,00 plus the cost of removing motor
and pump, to ascertian if casing punctured or screen
ruptured or come loose or plug placed properly.
Councillor Jones, Chairman, announced that a "Special
Water Developement Committee" meeting would be. held
on Thursday night January 16th,
Engin:aer Murray reported there will be a 10% increase
in copper tubing and fittings,

11 That the Works be authorized to spend
up to $500,00 on copper pipe and the
Seal of the Corporation be attached
hereto,"
Carried.
Councillor Patrick requested a Works Committee
meeting after this Council meeting.
Mayor Davis welcomed vistors James Murray and Norm
Perkins to to-nights Council meeting.
