Council's assistance in completing and returning an
attached questionnaire, Also attached to the letter
was a copy of the relevent extract from the Second
Interim Report, for ease of reference to facilitate the
Council's reply,

minister of Highways, advising Council that an excess
to the Aurora Shopping Centre, south and adjacent to
the Brewers Retail Store, will be allowed,
Webb and Knapp re: above, expressing their thanks for
Cpuncil' s co-operation and support of thil i.r efforts,

STODDART: Department of Highways be instructed to
proceed with the connecting link agreement,"

DAVIS: "Resolved that the letter be referred to
STODDART: the North York Humane Society for their
comment."

Consolidated Building Corp., submitting a proposal
to improve the access road from Yonge S.t. to
the industrial section of Regency Acres,
WILLIAMSON: "Resolved that C,B,C, be notified that
MANNING: the Town will enter into an agreement
providing the Town is not obligated to
supply new matterial or re-build, but,
is respansible for the maintenance of
the road, Also, if C,B,C. are willing
to supply the Town with a 15" culvert, to
be installed by the Town for drainage
purposes,"
Carried.
International Water §upply Co., enclosing a report
of the occurance at the new north end well, and
the procedure they recommend to follow.
The above matter was then discussed at length,
followed by a report by the Engineer assisted by
the use of diagrams,

survey and report on Town Sewage Treat-
~ent facilities at a cost of not more

Councillor Manning presented a report of the
Police Committee, concerning the resignation of
Constable Coombes.. Mr. manning stated that the
Committee had no choice but to accept Constable
Coombe's resignation with regret, after he had
declined to re-consider his ddecision,
Discussion followed with members of Council express-
ing their epinions in the matter,
mayor Nisbet called a Police meeting for Monday
October 28th, at 8,30 p.m. to clarify any
dis-satisfaction which might exist in the Police
Force, In attendance will be Chief Wm, Langman.
Councillor Manning reported that Judge Warrender
had set the arbitration meeting for Friday, November
8th at 10,00 a.m.

Councillor Williamson presented a report of the
Property Committee in which the committee
respectfully submit the following:
Tenders for the supply of fuel oil to municipal
buildings were received on October 18th, 1963,
prior to the deadline previously established, The
tenders were subsequently reviewed and the committee
recommend the following:

delivery of fuel oil, to municipal

Mayor Ni~bet reported that the garbage contract
will be increasing rates at the first of the year,.
and a1.tggest the increase be passed prior to the
nomination meeting,
Councillor Sinclair congratulated the Town Engineer
for the fine job on Temperance St,
]!tr, Sinclsir also presented a corrected compilation·
of the Police wages, which had been published
excluding the witness fees.

Mayor Nisbet informed Council that J\'Ir, Sorbara
called, and advised that Mr. Foreht, Aurora Heights
lawyer, wishes to see the agreement before it is
signed, which should be sometime this week,
The Mayor also reported that a letter will be
supplied to Mr. Garfinkel, if rrquired, advising him
that the releases will be forth-coming, pending
the signing of the Agreement,
W!r, M·,mray,, The Town Engineer, reported the
following:
1, The underground services in Golf Glen Sub-
division will be started on Wednesday, and requested
authority to hire an inspector.
2, That he had received a price of 35cents a sq.
yard to sod the extreme slopes on Temperance St.
after the grade had been ehanged during the course
of re-paving. Wfr, IVIurray suggested the sodding
be approved,
JONES:
DAVIS:
"Resolved that 700 sq, ft of slope on
Temperance St. be sodded at a cost of
$245,00 and the seal of the corporation
be attached hereto."

MOFFAT: "Resolved that the submission of a

the same now be read a first time,"

The by-law was then read a first time,
MOFFAT: "That the by-law now before the Council
STODDART: be read a second time and that the
Council resolve itself into a committee
of the whole for that :purpose,"
NISBET: "That the second reading of the by-law be
WILLIAMSON: taken as read,"
Carried,
MANNING: "That the by-law now before the Council
WILLIAMSON: be read a third time this day and that
rule 22 of By-law # 1468. be suspended
for that purpose,"
DAVIS: n'J'hat the third reading of the by.:.. law be
CHILD: taken as read,"
Carried,
Councillor Jones suggested that Council consider
hiring a trench inspector for Golf Glen Subdivision,,
The Engineer stated that he would be responsible
for the appointment of an all purpose inspector,
].!Jr. Bruce Mercer, appearing on behalf of the Jaycees,.
roquested some information concerning the crosswalks
The general feeling of tho Jaycees was that the
crosswalk signs without the overhead lighting would
be inefficient.
Councillor Manning replied that the signs have bean
ordered, and are to be of the reflection ty:pe,.i~
accordance with the Department of ~rans:port
specifications.
