Councillor Moffat reported that:
1. The Public SChool Board is not willing to grant
permission for Councils request to build an outdoor
rink on the George St, schooyo.rd, However, th
Regency Acres Public School request permission to
mark out two soccer fields, and install temporary
goal posts in the parkland, Members of the Parks
Board visisted the site 1 and resolved that this
could be done, providing the Town install the goal
posts,, which woul allow aBYone to use the soccer
fields 1 . rather than the Regency Acres pup~ls only,
2. A request was also received from the Aurora
Heights Schoo, who wish to move their sports equip-
ment from their own schoolyard, which presents a
problem of balls landing on private property, to
what they call the Vanek property, but, is actually
parkland owned by Aurora Hmights Ltd, The matter was
then referred to Parks Committee for further study,
and was suggested that the above request be granted
providing the Town have full control of the area,
and tha School Board recondiser the Town's request
for ru1 outdo~r rink on George St. School property.
Councillor ~~ning presented a report of the
Police Committee in which the Committee respectfully
submit the following:
1. That seven nylon winter police coats be purchased
from F,&R. Incorporated, Montreal, Model 509XP T,
colour dark navy, black buttons, at a unit price of
$35.00 plus 10% federal sales tax and 3% provincial
sales tax,
2. The firearms carried by P .c, Lewis 1 and P .c,
Hillock were discussed, The Chief was asked to send
these arms to a gunsmith for appraisal,
3. Chief Langman was authorized to attend the
Dominion Police Chierls convention in Hamilton at an
approximate cost of $70.00
4. Winter uniforms and boots were discussed, The
Chief was requested to submit a list of the menr·s
needs,. including accessories,

Committee stating that they have turned down

Councillor Williamson reported that the Sewage Plant
truck requires Major repairs and suggested buying
another one, '
Councillor Jones opposed the idea of purchasing a
used truck and suggested retaining the old tank
and buyi~g a new chasis,
Councillor Williamson stated he would look into the
matter,
An appointment to the Recreation Committee was
discussed, and since no woman served on the board,
the name of Mrs, C, Lee was suggested,

remainder of the year,"

Councillor Moffat raised the subject of Homemakers
Service wfuich has previously been discussed, and
asked if the County has progressed any further in the
subject,
Reeve Davis veplied that the matter was referred to
the Welfare Committee, but, suggested Council write
the County for an answeD to the previous request,

Councillor Child reported that a letter has been
received from Turck and Wengle Assoc, fer Garfreed
Construction 1 concerning the release of lots in
Aurora Heights Subdivision,

"Resolved that no further building
permits be issued to Garfreed Construction
Ltd, until the matter has been cleared
up •"

Reeve Davis advised council that he is still
receiving complaints concerning the condition of
the water,
Genor~l discussio®-fal1owed re water situation and
the paving of Temperance St.
The Clerk was then instructed to write the Town
Engineer requesting a report coucerning the following
items:
1. Tho water situation in Aurora with specific
reference to odour and discolouring,
2, The height level of the road under co!lstruction
on Temperance St., reference Cpuncil•s instructions
that the maximum built-up height be maintained at
one foot on the area proceeding southerly some
fifty feet from Wellington St, r~. R, Harrison
residing at the corner of Wellington St and
Temperance St. has submitted a complaint that as
a result of the build up of Temper~~ce St, he is
concerned that flooding of his property may occur,
3. The reason why the parking lot lying due east
of Temperance St. was filled in with earth,

Councillor Williamson expresed a word of commendation
to the Works Committee for the excellent sidewake
just recently laid on Yonge St, from Centre St to
Catherine Ave,,
Councillor Moffat thanked council for their good
wishes sent to her husband while he is in hospital,
Reeve Davis also tha..'I'J.ked council for the card and
best wishes, on their 25th. wedding anniversary.
