CURBS ON
HAIDA DRIVE
Z.ONING BY-LAW
The problem of accepting the curbs on Haida Drive
was discussed at the regular meeting of Aurora
Town Council on July 22nd, 1963, The Town
Council has decided as follows:

Following curbs will be acceptable:
Only those curbs that are installed to
proper line and grade,
Curbs that do not have any spalling whatso-
ever,
In the case of curbs having hairline cracks
due to frost action,. we will accept those
lengths of curbs that have one hairline crack
only in them, This hairline crack must be a
minimum of 3' from either end, In the case
where hairline cracks are less than 3' from
the end, the small section m~st be replaced
by a minimum section of 6•. The repairs
should be made in a neat fashion, All the
expansion joints should be straight and
vertical,

Councillor Jones presented a report of the Works
Committee in which the committee respectfully
submit the following:

After a short discussion, it was recommend that
a waterworks man he hired. After ·. :rovicwiug
several applications which had been recaivcd .it
was unanimously agreed that 1~, Ernie Atkinson
be accepted. The Committee then interviewed
Mr. Atkinson on July16th. and he was hired as
waterworks man and started the job on July 17,
1963.
The Town Engineer to be in charge of the water
works department,. the personnel for its operation
and maintenance. He shall call on the works
Department, through the Town Sup?~::i.ntendent for
help on repairs, new services, etc.

Councillor Jones reported on condition of walk-
way between Jones Court and Richardson Dr, where
there is a sharp drop and wall is leaning out.

outline what is involved if walkway is closed.
Councillor Manning reported receiving complaints
that the Dunham Cres, Ar@a walkways were not
fenced, outlined.or serviced and asked,. that it ,.
be made usable. Engineer murray to locate <',?

Councillor manning reported tho by-law had been
approved and signs arc required, The Jaycees
will engage in education of children at the
schools, Police and Works Committees are to
order signs and decide where to erect poles,
Council considered the proposed improvements

paving plans and estimates had not been prepaired
earlier, Engineer Murray replied he had been

supplementary expenditures on roads
or streets and that the same be now
read a first time,"

Councillor Williamson noted that the signs on
Yonge St, read 10,000. and the signs on
Wellington east and west read 9,200,
Mayor Nisbet stated it would pay to have a
special count of residents as it would increase
the unconditianal grant substantially,
WILLIAMC2N: "Resolved that theMcyor be authorjzed
MOFFAT: to take this matter up with the
Assessor and hire census takers if
warranted,"

Reeve Davis asked if Harrison could be propised
steady employment, This question will be
decided in a committee meeting,
Engineer Murray presented a preliminary plan and
asked for approval.
MANNING : "Resolved that enquiries be made of
