Christie, 114 Glass Dr, appeared before Co~~cil on behalf of fiveresidents of R~gency Acres, who reported damage to their homes and contents, the morning of November 10, 1962 when flooding occured as a result of sewers backing-up. Mr. Christie then referred to the damage that each resident experienced and asked Council what caused this flooding and what had been done to :prevent it from happening again, , .... 22ND REGULAR DELEGATIONS FLOODING -REGENCY ACRES --~--' BUS SERVICE -10-November 19,1962. \ Mr. S, T, Murraytj, the Town E'ngineer, then gave an outlinp of the set up in Regency Acres and s/aid that everything possible was being'done to .determine the cause· and to prevent this from occuring in the future, IV'~. Christie continued, asking council two questions 1. Would there be any re-imbursement? 2, VV'na1 is Mr. S,T, Murray's authority? In answering w~. Christie's questions the Mayor replied that Nlr •. S.T. Murray was not in charge of the Works · Department and that this was the wish of tb,e Council, With regards to re-imbursement, the Mayor insisted that those who encountered damage to their homes, file their claims in writing and the Town will refer them to the Insurance Co. If the town is found responsible, it is anticipated ··· .that these claims will be honoured, Mr, Christie concluded by thanking the Mayor and Council, the Fire ... Department the Works. Department and everyone who did all they coulc to alleviate the flooding, Miss White representing the bus service in Town, appeared before Council to give a report, Miss White stated she was willing to carry on the bus service as if was sufficient to get by as a living, however there was one clause in . Counci'~lor Corbett, chairman· of.· the Property Committee, received a tender for the purchase of the Sewage Treatment Plant Greenhouse. CORBETT: DAVIS: CHILD: MURRAY: "Resolved that tho tender of W.H Houghton, Oak Ridges, at a price of$100. f~r the purchase of the Sewage Treatment Plant Greenhouse be accepted." "Amendment to the Resolut- ion Resolved that this matter be referred to the Property Committee for their report and recommendation. 11 Carried. ·"~---' ! 22ND REGULAR 'l'lfORTS OF COMMITTEES HYDRANT WELLINGTON AND INBUSTRY STREETS UNFINISHED BUSINESS CARETAKING -REMINGTON RAND BUILDING '1,_- -12-November 19, 1962. The Mayor, brought to Councils atten- tion, that situated at the corner of Wellington and Industry Streets, was a low hydrant. He stated that Aurora Tank and Welding are planning to build on this lot, and that this hydrant must be ~aised boefore grading commences. MOFFAT: "Resolved that the hydrant CHILD: at the corner of Wellington and Industry Streets be raised." Carried. Councillor Corbett, chairman of the Property Committee reported that 1IT. George Dawson, Aurora Janitor Service, was concerned over the Aurora Recreation Commission using two rooms in the basement of the old Regmington Rand Building, Mr. Dawson was willing to offer his free services for cleaning these two rooms providing that he be given permission to store his equipment in half of the old red bar. n to the ·· · · south of tho arena.
