Mayor Ke:Lth Nisbet presented the following tribute to Councillor William Davidson: It i.s my sail duty to-night to pay triuute to one of us who sat with most of.us at this Council table for a long time. Our late coll- eague, Councillor William Davidson, whose daath occurred last Sa turCJ.$.y , ·, We all knew l:lim as Bill Davidson,. and I think that it is as Bill Davidson he would like 'j;o be remembered. This can be said of him -that whatever he did he gave his best to it. He was one of those Who 1 having served his country on the field of battle, never left off serving it in the years tha;t follow -ed. July 3 f 1962 He was a good husband and·father, a good Councillor and a good citizen. we have lost a fine member of this council and a good friend'• BHe fought the good fight and this community is the better because ill Davidson lived in it and shared its problems. On .)ehalf of the Council and of all the citizens of Aurora I extend our heartfelt sympathy to Mrs. Davidson and their son and daughtera. May the knowledge that his service to the Town is gratefully remembered by all its citizens help to bring them some comfort in this their day of sorrow. Will you all now stand and join with me in a mo~ent of silence in Tribute to Bill Davidson, our late colleague and our very good friend. Reeve Davis reported that a meeting of the Police and Fire Committee regarding the installation of phone servipes between Aurora and Newmarket had been left over until another Police Chairman was appointed, CHILD: MOFFAT: "That the Town follow up the previously letter of June 8, written to the Town of Newmark- et regarding this subject." Carried. Councillor Corbett reported that the consumption of gas utilized between June 15th and July 3rd at the SewageTreatment Plant amounted to 1 1 204 1 000. cubic feet and that only 20 gallons of oil had been burned in this period, Councillor Corbett further stated that ameeting is required with Collis Leather to finlout what is being duro~ed in the evenings between the hours of 10 to 11 p.m. and Councillor Corbett sta.ted he would arrange such a meeting, · 13TH REGULAR -4-July 3 1 1962 REPORTS OF COMMITTEES SIDEWALKS Councillor Jones reported that concerning the subject of sidewalks that a visit of the sidewalks in Town had been made the previous week and theat prices on black topping a number of these e11e- walks were being obtained at the present time and would be available for the next meeting, BALL SCREENS Councillor Murray advised that the present trucking strike had interferred withthe delivery of mome of the ball screens required for the parks, Councillor PARKING -SWIMMING POOL Murray further advised that at the Aurora Swimming pool the parking problem on George St. ' very bad and dangerous and further that the Town owns some property around the swimming pool and possible should get this land in use and relieve the congestion on Geor~e St, Councillor Murray stated that if the traffic would come in off Reuben St a good parking lot could be obtained and it was decided that the Parks Committee and Police Committee would meet and ascertain a solution to this problem of parking on George St might be aleviated. SAURO SUBDIVISION Councillor Child reported regarding Mr. 0, Sauro's Subdivision and stated that the matter of the 5% requirement in lieu of parks in the Ontario Department of Planning will approve the Town to accept 5% in money in lieu of land provided that the land be valued by an appraiser, Councillor Child reported that we reqmire a supplementary agreement to the subdivis- ion agreement regarding this 5% dedicat- ion and that a letter be forwarded to the Department of Planning that all the :·. · requirements doncerning this subdivision have been agreed 11.pon • CHILD: "Resolved that a letter be DAVIS: forward to the Ontario Depart- ment. of Planning advising them that their requirements have been agreed upon between the Town and the Subdivider and in addition forward a copy of the appraisal of this land~. Carried. "That leave be given to introduce a by-law to amend by-law number 1452 as amended by by-law 1473, designat- ing through highways and that the same be now read a first time." DAVIS: CORBETT: -7-JULY 3, 1962 Councillor Corbett advised Council that a building should be planned immediately to protect the 1 ton containers of chlorine at the Sewage Treatment Plant and that a meeting with the Property Committee would be held shortly and a report presented at the next meet- ing of Council, Councillor Child brought to Councils attention that several letters had been received from the Liquor Control Board of Ontario regarding the location of a road on the north side of the property they purchased last October and that the Liquor Control Board require some assurance that there will be such a road constructed Councillor Child then advised Council that the Planning Board had approved the plan outlining the proposed road in principal• CHILD: DAVIS: "Resolved that the Council of the Town of Aurora hereby approves of the proposed draft road pattern of Golf Glen Terraces as approved in principal by the Aurora Planning Board and be it further resolved that the construction of the road is the responsibilty of the sub- divider," Carried, "That this meeting adjourn," The meeting then adjourned, ("""' L., (
