-"4-September 4, 1962
Councillor Sinclair presented a report of the
Police Committee in which the Committee
respectfully submit the following:
The Police Commitee met at 7.30 p.m. on Monday
August 27, to review a considerable number of
problems, which engaged their attention until
10.45 p.m. Present were the committee's
chairman and vice-chairman, attended by
Police Chief William Lan~an, Committee
mmmber Councillor James Murray was an absent-
ee.
The Committee quorum wish to record their
appreciation of the_ attendance of Deputy
Reeve William Stoddart and Councillors Vic
Jones and Cliff Corbett, all of whom made
helpful suggestions in the course of
discussion.
The first item of business was the police
requisition for uniforms and_accessories for
winter and summer wear. Two bids for these
were before the Committee and after a pro-
tracted discussion it was finally agreed to
accept the bid of Mr. Norm Cook, as indicated
in a motion following this report. ··
During the discussion Councillor 6orbett
suggested that the better method for future
police requisitions for clothing would be,
one requisition for summer wear made in.early
spring, and a second requisition made in late
summer for winter wear• This suggestion was
unaminously accepted.
C-:tnsideration was then given to the completion
of five years' service in the Aurora p.olice
force by Constable Coombes, tb~s entitling
him to the arbitration award of 10¢ pev day,
payable near Christmal>. This award is emltodied
in a motion which I will presently subm:l . to
Council.
