MURRAY RE TRENCH INSPECTOR DELEGATIONS W.ATER SHOR~AGE . · .... ,... ;•z .... -10-May 28, 1962. A letter from Mr. S,T. Murray, P Eng, resigning from the position of Trench Inspector, Town of Aurora, Mr. S,T, Murray explained the situation as it exits regarding trenching in Town, CHILD: DAVIS: "Resolved that Joe McGhee be, appointed Trnnch Inspector in place of S,T, Murray and the amending by-law be so prepared," Carried, Mr. E. ~ignell, appeared before council and stated that the average comsumption per day per person should be 40 gals. per day and Mr. S,T •. Murray informed Mr. Bignell • that the consumption was closer to 150 gals per day per person. Mayor Nisbet informed Mr. Bignell that additional pumps ~re on order to increase output from the town's wells. Mr. Bignell suggested that the Town inst~ all water meters and further that there: is no planning re water requirements, Mayor Nisbet stated that the staff had been called out late at night to work on this situation as some people in the Town had no Ml.ter at all, ~.:...... Councillor Moffat stated she had attended a meeting at Richmond Hill and listed to a panel of talented people, A Dr. Crawford had stated so offten councils are by nature a group of people who faar changes and that the time had come when council should be grateful to bG ableto delegate some of their work and adminst- r~ion. · Councillor Jones stated he could not see chang- ing this time of year as we have a Arena Boar~ and manager and a Recreation Commission and director, Councillor Jones stated to set-up Parks Board now without a proper set up seems it will revert back to Works Committee for jobs to be done,. Councillor Jones stated that the Parks Board will rule asto how money to b~ spent. Councillor Jones felt we should start off at first of year and they get there proper estimate in the annual budget. Councllor Jon'es opposed• the change at this time, Mayor Niseet stated that the Department of Municipal Affairs had stated we could re .. allqp- ate monies by a resolution of Council. After considerable discussion we recommend the paving of Dunning Ave. from Yonge St. to the present pavement, approximately 800 feet ; and Edward Street from Dunning Ave to Cousins Drive approximately 69 0 feet. · JONES: DAVIS: "That the report of the Works Committee regarding paving of streets be accepted. 11 Carri'ed~ Councillor Jones presented a report of the Works Committee in which the Committee respeGt- fully submit the following: "The Committee met and subseg_uent to a study of tenders received recommend that the follow- ing purchases for 1962 be authorized: · Miller Paving Ltd .• approximately 10,000 gals 1 of Asphalt Prime at a price of $0.225 per ga+, £ ' )Baker's Sand and Gravel-approximately 150 ; yards of coarse sand at a price of • 70 cents • \per yard, JONES: DAVIS: .• "That the report of the Works Committee re Prime and Sand reg_uirements be accepted and the Seal of the Corporation be attaqh -ed hereto." Carried. ~ .... ~· ,,~;.. 1OTH REGULAR HYDRO SUB STATION DOG PROBLEM -14-MAY 28, 1962, Mayor Nisbet stated that a meetL:,; had been held with the Aurora Hydro-Elect:rJ.c regarding a sub station required' when the pump at'the new well is installed·, and reported that the Hydro-Electric will install this sub station and the Town might buy it back after a period of several years and that +in tbie;~nnner there would be a savings on the cost of the starter required, M~yor Nisbet stated this sub- station may be bought back over a 5 to 10 year period, · · DAVIS: STODDART: "Resolved that tentative approval the Aurora Hydro-Electric Commiss- ion to install a Sub station at the new well when the pump is installed," Carried, Councillor Moffat reported that at the previo~ us Council meeting a gentleman had appeared · regarding a dog problem near his home and her; and the Town Solicitor had looked into the · matter. Councillor Moffat stated she had seep this gentleman since and he had reported that the situation had improved so nothing further had been done, in this matte~ KELNER SUNNYBROOK Councillor Child reportid that a meeting had SUBDIVISION been held with Mr. Kelner regarding Sunnybrook Subdivision and Mr. Kelner had assured us th~t · he has plans to go ahead with a small neighbqur hood shopping centre and will discuss other matters pertaining to this meeting with Committee at a further date, 4~~~~7 Mayor Nisbet reported that in 1959 the Mayor and Clerk were duly authorized to sign . an agreement between 0, Sauro and the Town of Aurora and reported that this agreement was so signed this day • ... • :-.·· •110 . ~·- -·<-,, ,.,, 1OTH REGULAR ROLF GLEN TERRA.TCE SUBDIVISION UNFINISHED BUSINESS SIDEWALK -REGENCY ACRES -SEPARATE SCHOOL BELL-FIRE HALL WEEP INSPECTOR -15-May 28, 1962 • Councillor Murray inquired as to what progre~~ is being made concerning the Golf Glen Sub-·· division, Councillor Child reported that a meet~ng had been held over a week ago with the ~lanners of Golf Glen Terrane · and that the plan presented at that time out -lined far too many lots for our approval anq that they are to come back with a further plan showing the 40 lots we desire. Councillor Child reported he felt they may appear at th~ Planning Board mooting to-morrow night. ·· Councillor Jones reported that the sidewalk at Regency Acres Subdivision near the Separate School should now be constructed and that the contract was let lastfall although it waEJ too late in the year at that time to construdt it, Councillor Jones stated the contractor is now willing to construct this sidewalk 7 pe~i~ning the fipst week in June. JONES: MOFFAT: "Resolved that Thornhill Const- ruction be authorized to proceeq to construct this sidewalk as ' approved in 1961," Carried, Councillor Corbett reported that the Fire Chief JI/Jr, Jones had constented to allow the bell to be put up in centre of fire hall and XkR at the present time Councillor Corbett was working cleaning and shinning this bell,· Councillor Jones reported on the appointing /". of a weelil inspector and stated that Mr. Gou19./ ing was appointed last year as such but r complained he did not start early enough. 1 JONES: "Resolved that Mr. Goulding be CORBETT: authorized to proceed according· to provisions of by-law number 1490. BY-LAWS BY-LAW # 1525 EREnl:T AND EQUIP NEW PUBLIC LIBRARY PARKS BOARD BY-LAW # 1527 -16- MOFFAT: DAVIDSON: May 28, 1962 "That leave be given to introd- uce a by~law to authorize the the issue of $65,000,00 in debentures to erect and equip a new Public Library building and that the same be now read a first time. Carried, The by-law was then read a first time, CHILD: DAVIS: NISBET: DAVIS: That the by-law now before the Council be read a second time and that the Council resolve itself into a committee of the whole for that purpose, Carried, "That the second reading of the by-law be taken as read," Carried. The second reading of the by-law was then approved in Council.
