NEW BUSINESS Reeve Davis advised Council that it was desirable to fill the Swimming Pool this week and it had come to his attention that the arena is now in operation and had not been notified that they intended to put ice in so early in the season. ' Deputy Reeve Nisbet stated that Council apen~sensiderable money on a pump and it had been agreed that this pump be put in operation and now something should either be done or we should rescind mo~ion. Mayor Murray asked whY the pump that was ordered for this purpose had not been installed. Councillor ~air stated that Mr~ Bolsby had originally objected to the installation of this pump. Councillor Davidson felt the reason was that it was not feasable to bring, water fr om the creek and that it !l!JDuld come from the reservoir. Councillor Child stated that a Mr. Andrews came up in a November of 19.5.5 or 19.56 to buy a pump and have it put in by next spring. Mr. A ndras had drawn a diagram explaining how to put in a filter bed and pump. and the plan had appeared reasonable at this time. Reeve Davis felt that the Arena should have held off putting in ice for a few weeks. Councillor Patrick thought that the ice machine _ should be put off after this meeting and remedy the whole situation. l~yor Murray suggested that Collis Leather be requested to supply us ~~th the necessary gallons of water to fill the swimming pool. Reeve Davis brought to Council's attention that Collis Leather hai requested a connection to the six inch watermain for the sprinkler system and this connection might come off Mills Street. It was decided that this matter be left with Reeve Davis and the Town Superintend.Bat. 189 190 -10-Monday. In addition Councillor Patrick felt that the acquisition of a baqkhoe tractor at an approximate cost of $5,700.00 would in the long run save the Town considerable amounts of mone;w. 1 It was decided that a Street Committee meeting be hlihd to discuss ' this recommended purchase.
