. . . Mr. l;J. Hackett and Mr. s. Coxford attended before the
Council to present briefs in support of their applications for
backing for their proposed radio stations. This matter was
left over for consideration later.
The contracts for the construction of sewers and
watermains was consldered. This matter was left for discussion
with the solicitor.
The question of the building to be erected at the
corner of Yonge and Mosley·Streets was considered.

The by-law for the increase of the Council re-
munerations was considered.

A by-law for the establishment of services on the
industrial subdivision under the Local Improvement Act was
considered.

and the reading was then approved in Council. '
The csntracts for the sewer installation and pumphouse
erection were then further considered.

project No. E.o. 5466 be accepted with the exception . - . , I of the sewers on the ind,strial subdi'li'lsion, at a
basic contract price of $36;440.75 with a deduction
for the industrial subdivision at the rates provided in
the contract.
Project B.
That the tender of Aurara Building Company be accepted
at .a price of $18, 990 for the erection of a pumphouse
on the proposed extension of Centre Street and the Seal
of the.Corporation be attached thereto~
Subject to the-final deeds and easements being obtained.11

The storm sewer on Irwin Avenue was considered and .. left with the
Streets Committee for·areport.
Discussion took place on the dust:ilaying problem on Machell Avenue.

The proposed wat.ermain extensions were then considered.
11 That the engineers be given approval to call for
tenders for the proposed watermain extensions.
Tenders to be submitted in two parts showing the
watermains on the industrial sul)divi.sion separately.
Tenders 'to .. be subject to the acquisition of' any
easements necessary".
Carried.
The application for support of' radio stations was then
further considered. Mr. lf. Hackett and Mr. s. Coxf'ord also
presented information on their respective proposed stations. The
matter was .. lef't for further consideration at the next meeting of
the council.
Reeve Davis reported on the Fire Alarm System and
presented certain recommendations of' the Fire Chief'.

"That the hydro superintendent be instructed to move
the Fire Alarm equipment from the waterworks to
the· Fire Hall,· to ·install: a new· battery and to ·
install buzzers at the properties of Sismans Shoe
Company and Collis Leather Company".
Carried.
The installation of lighting fixtures at the new
Fire Hall was discussed and left for consideration by the Property
Committee.
The changeover of' the light in front of' the Fire Hall
on to the street light system was discussed and left for action
by the Fire and Water Committee chairman.
Councillor Nisbet reported on municipal licensing •
A report on this matter was read and discussed, and left for
further consideration in committee.
A request for information on the use of' landon Ross
and Mary Streets was considered.

11 That the applicant be inform~d that the property
in question is in an industrial area and will have
to be sold as industrial land 11 •
Carried.
It was reported that Mr. W.R. Case was now ready to
sign the subdivision agreement for the opening of' the subdivision
on Dunning Avenue~

division agreement prior to the signing of the Cousins
subdivision agreement, Mr. Case will be given any
