Go1~an attended before Council to ask for permission to hold a street dance on Yonge Street on August 22nd, for the Canadian Legion. COHNITTEE REPORTS Fire and 11ater Committee Reeve Davis presented the following ~;ri tten report: The Coll'.mi ttee respectfully submit the follo1ving: / r~c.s- Oi) The Committee met on Friday, May 4th, to discuss the installation of sev!ers east of the railroad tracks, and also to consider the improvement of the •ratermain on Centre Street. Also present •:Jere Hayor Dr. Henderson, Councillors Child, Davidson, Nisbet and Stoddart. The Committee inspected the proposed site of the pumphouse east of the railroad tracks, and no>·: recommends that the layout of the sei,rers and pumphouse as suggested by the Engineers, Hessrs. Proctor, Redfern and Laughlin be approved. This layout means the acquisition of land for a 66-foot 1•Tide extension of Centre Street, and for a pumphouse site 40 feet by 80 feet, together with an easeBent from \'iellington Street and also a 2.5-foot lanewa.y from the extension on Centre Street in to the pumphouse. The Committee no•• recommends that the owner of the property involved be contacted to arrange for the acquisition of land and for the necessary easements. The Committee also considered the improvement of the -v;atermain on Centre Street and it is novr recoll'~~ended that the Town Engineers be contacted for information as to their overall development of the erater~·rorks system to ascert<dn how the proposal for Centre Street fits in ;·ri th their plans. Streets Committee Reeve Davis reported on the need for certain street w·orks to be done. DAVIS: CHILD: ProDerty 11 Tha t the To1m hire a po"rer grader for the purpose of grading Hillvie"r Road, Tyler Street and Kennedy Street east "ihere necessary. Also that the necessary_in?tructions be given for the extension of Edward Street and Dunning Avenue east to tracks at once under the supervision of the Tovm Foreman, and that the Seal of the Corporation be attached hereto 11 • Carried. Councillor Nisbet reported on the planting of trees in the To\-m and informed the Council that he felt that no further planting should be done on the Aurora Heights subdivision until such times as it is knmm what 1•JOrk vJill be done on that land. Councillor Nisbet also asked about the survey of the Disposal Plant lot and suggested the installation of hydro service into the 1vorkshop on the Disposal Plant lot. Councillor Davidson presented a report of the Sports and Publicity Committee, and presented a proposed sign to be placed at the north and south entrances to the Town. Plapning Committee Councillor Child presented the foll01dng l'lri tten renort of the Planning Comrnl ttee. -- The Committee respectfully submit the follo"ring: At a recent meeting of the Planning Board it vlas recommended that some serious consideration Should be given to the allocation of a park area for the future, and recommended that the Vanek property would be an idesl location since it was quite doubtful that it could be used for building purposes. CHILD: DAVIDSON: 11 That this Council adopt the recom;-:rendation of the Planning BosJ?d covering the location of a Park area being located at the Vanek property 11 • Carried •. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Councillor Nisbet report-ed that he had asked the Aurora Building Company to carry out the laying of stone in front of the 'new Fire Hall. Other matters pertaining to the new Fire Hall vrere also discussed. Maror Henderson reported on the issuing of parking tickets during the w-eek. Reeve Davis reported on the inspection of those premises on Yonge Street which had been the subject of an inspection by representatives of the Fir.e Marshall's office. DAVIS: NISBET: 11 That the Clerk be instructed to t,rrite to the Fire l~arshal for a report of the inspection 11 • Carried. Reeve Davis also reported on the test drilling for water. Reeve Davis also reported on the blocking of a se;,rer on Victoria Street, and suggested a by-law be brought in to provide for payment by the ovmers of properties causing th_e blockages in the set-rers. This matter t'las left for consideration in comw~ttee. Councillor Nisbet suggested the placing of an advertisement for ~ town engineer. Reeve Davis read a letter from the Fire Chief regarding his responsibility for loss or damage due to the changeover from the Old Fire Hall to the Nev.r Fire Hall. It vras reported that the Lions Club had requested the use of the To"m Park for a carnival on Hay 25th.
