CORRESPONDENCE A letter from the Rotary Club of Aurora requesting permission to hold.their annual peanut drive on June 22nd and 23rd was read. NISBET: 11 That this request be granted 11 DAVIS: Carried, A letter. from the Police Department .. forwarding information on the results of a course taken by P,C. J. Krochter was read. CORBETT: CHILD: 11 That this matter be referred to the Police Committee" Carried. A letter from the Newmarket Council thanking the Aurora Fire Department tor.their assistance at a fire in Newmarket on June 9th was read. JONES: 11 That this letter .be tiled 11 • DAVIS: Carried, A letter from the Aurora High School thanking Council tor the Scholarship recently given by the Council was read. This letter was ordered tiled. A letter.from Mr. F.W. Browne regarding the oiling of streets in the town was read. DAVIS: 11 That the letter be filed". DELEGATIONS Mr. Don Glass attended before the Council on behalf of the Aurora Board of Trade to present prices for the erection of joint signs at the North and South entrances to the town. This matter was discussed briefly and held over for further rnformation. COMMITTEE REPORTS Finance Committee Councillor Stoddart reported on the insurance of the contents of the New Fire Hall and of the Siren on the Remington Rand National training institute. STODDART: NISBET: 11 That $2,000.00. insurance be placed on.EquipDient. in Fire Hall and $800.00. insurance be placed on Siren on roof of Remington Rand School and the seal of the Corporation be attached 11 Carried. UNFINISHED BUSINESS The request for information on the use of land on Kennedy Street West was considered· and l·eft over for one week so that further· information could be obtained, BY-LAWS BAILEY: CORBETT: "That leave be given to introduceca By-law to amend By-law 1257, a by-law to amend 1246,to amend 1051 and that the saDie be now read a first time.11 Carried. The By-law was then read a first time. NISBET: DAVIDSON: 11 That the.By-law now before the Council be read a second time and that the Council dissolve itself into a committee of the whole for that purpose" . Carried. The paving of streets in the Town was discussed • NISBET: BAILEY: 11 That the consulting engineers be asked forepecificatione for the paving of Berczy Street and the paving of the apron in front of the Fire Hall and for recommendations as t·o the resurfacing of Kennedy Street West. 11 Carried. Deputy Reeve Jones reported that a Streets Committee would be called shortly to diseuse sidewalk work. The Aurora Heights Industrial Subdivision agreement and other subdivision agreements were then discussed further. Councillor Nisbet asked if anything had yet been heard regarding the repairs to the curbs and gti.tters on Yonge Street 0 and was informed that no action had yet been taken'on this matter. Councillor Davidson asked for a report on the Water situation and this was briefly discussed. The erection of the signs on Yonge Street were further discussed BAILEY: CHILD: "That this matter be left until the nemt meeting so · that all particulars can be obtained 11 Carried. Mr. A.B. Stoltz, Mr. L.
