NISBET: BAILEY: 11 That this Council f3UJ>POl"t the' motion o.f the Town of Port Colborne 11 • Carried~ Applications from the Bell Telephone Co~ for permission to lay cables on Yonge StreetS~ and Yonge Street N~·were considered. 21 JONES: "That permission be granted provided :everything is replaced NISBET: in satisfactory condition .• 11 · Carried~ A letter from the Department of Planning and Development, Civil Defence Branch,, dealing. with Civil Defence was read. BAILEY: DAVIDSON: 11 That we have a Civil Defence representative attend a meeting of the Council to discuss this matter 11 • ,Carried. A proposed agreement oetween Aurora Heights Ltd. and the Town for the installation of services within the Aurora Heights Industrial subdivision under Local Improvements was considered. The purchase of the tractor fo:r _:the Streets work was further discussed~ The 1955 audit 'i'ras then considered briefly~ ~ ~ (") C-i M Councillor Nisbet then presented. the following report of the ~-.·~ Furnishings Committee. · I The Committee respectfully submit the following: The Committee has investigated the need for dictation equipment for the Clerk's Office, and several makes of machines have been tried~ A:t.ter considerable study, the Committee recommends that a Stenorette ,dictating .· machine,· and a Stenorette transcribing machine.be . purchased from Ontario Business Equipment, f'or a total cost of $~99.q0. Also that .a telephone adapter and three additional tapes be. purchased tor these 111aehines at an additional cos~ of $16~50~ This machine ls available at a cost of less than half the cost of most dictating machines, and has all the features of the more expensive machines~ The Committee recommends that this machipery be .purchased out o~ the.debenture for. the Municipal Bu1l<'l:ing.. · NISBET: CHILD: 11 That the report of the Furnishings Committee be accepted, and the Seal of the CorpoJ:'ation be a tta,ched hereto II. J : r 'lde: Carried. Councillor Nisbet reported that he had received the breakdown of cost requestedr trom the Lions Club, and. · it was agreed to discuss this matter in committee. Councillor Nisbet asked for a meeting of the Furnishings Committee on Wednesday, February 22nd 1956 at 8.15 p.m. and it was agreed to hold a full committee meeting of all members of Council on that night. Councillor Davidson asked that action be taken now to attempt to get the Provincial Government to deal, with. the water situation within the Province. I I I I I ' j I I ! Councillor Davidson also asked that the Sub-division agreement be reviewed~ Garbage collection was discussed briefly~ Councillor Child suggested that the conditiomof the subdivision agreement be incorporated into the Land Use By-law. The Clerk reported that he had received a request for assistance for the burial of Rocco Pasquino. BAILEY: CHILD: 11 That the application be not approved 11 • Carried • . The Clerk reported that he had received a request for a sign on Dodie Street. STODDART: CHILD: IIThat a IINo'fhrough Btreetll sign be placed on the corner of Kennedy and George Streets". Carried. The appointment of an assessor was then considered in Committee of the Whole. The erection of Signs on Kennedy Street E. was considered. The Clerk was instructed to arrange for a Sign on Kennedy Street E~ at Gurnett, stating that the Street continues one block east. JONES: liThat the meeting now adjourn 11 • Carried. r~.
