A letter from Fred G. Waites regarding the cutting ott of his
relief was read.
STODDART: That this letter be tiled.

A letter from the Aurora Public School B~ard re crossing
guards was read.
JONES: 11 That this matter be left in the hands of the Police

Mr. Vince Casey .attended before the Council on benalt ot
London Lite Assurance Co to ask tor consideration othis
Company it the. Council was interested in a group insurance
plan for town empl~yees.
This was lett tor discussion later.
Mr. Ivan Dadson attended before the Council to ask tor
information as to the control of speeding on Wellington St. w.,
and on the storm sewer and ditch on the same street.
He was informed that the Police would be asked to check
this street tor speeding and that the ditch would be dealt
with as soon as possible.

Reeve Murray reported on the condition of one of the wells on
the Nisbet property, on the water service required by Mr. Profit
tor his apartment house on Yonge St. s., and on the test drilling
programme. These matters were lett tor discussion later.

Mayor Hend erson presented the following written report:
11 The Committee met with the Chief of Police on September 8th
to discuss Police matters, and the following recommendations
are now submitted for Council's consideration:

1. That the Police Officers be paid at the rate of $1.00 per
day for the use of their cars while the Police Cruiser was
out of use.
2. That stop signs be placed at the following intersections:

Dep.Reeve Jones presented the following report:

That there be a 42 11 sidewalk laid on the south side of Maple
Street from Yonge St. to the east side of the separate school
property approximately 345 ft. at an estimated cost of $590.00
this work to be done as soon as possible 11 •

Councillor Stoddart asked.for a meeting to discuss Town Insurance,
and this matter was left for discussion.at the next meeting.

JONES: 11 That the Engineer examine the bridge on Yonge St. South
CORBETT: and bring in a recommendation as to what is required
together with an estimate of cost, by the next meeting
of the Council 11 •

Dep.Reeve Jones asked. what had been done with the paving of Centre
t3treet
He was inform.ed that the Consulting Engineers had called for
tenders for this work.
Dep.Reeve Jones reported on the re~UEST from the Hydro Commission
for the Council to bear part of the cost of the removal o.t .a tree
on Wellington St. E. . . · ·
NISBET: 11 That the Clerk be instructed to inform the Hydro
JONES: Uommission that the Council feels that it has no
r8'sponsibility in this matter".
CARRIED.
Cdurioillor Nisbet reported that two rooms at the Old Public
School would be ready for Remington Ran4 by October 1st 1955.
·councillor Davidson asked that some decision be made on the
water test drilling programme.
This was left :for g.iscussion with the ·Consulting Engineer.
Councillor Corbett asked i:f' anything had been done with the
Water main on Tyler Street.
This matter wa~ left :for the Fire and Water Committee to bring
in a recSommendation.
The injury to Nancy Dalton in the Town ~ark warlier in the year
was considered,;·and it was reported that the Insurance Adjusters
acting:,:f'or the· company holding the Town 1 s public liability policy
hade rejected the claim under t~at policy.

The application for a building permit for Faith Tabernacle was
discussed.
The application was put to the vote and rejected.
JONES: 11 That this Council petition the Department of Highways
MURRAY: for an interim payment of the Provincial Subsidy payable
under the Highway-Improvement Act. This payment to be
based on expenditures from-1st January to .31st August
1955 amounting to $10,502.,31 11 •
Carried.
Councillor Stoddart asked for a joint meeting with the ~rena
Board to diseuse Arena financing.
It was agreed to hold this meeting in ~ommittee on Monday Sept.2eth/55.
at 9.00 p.m.
The request ~ from Mr. Vince Casey for consideration in the
sommencement of a group insurance policy for town employees was
considered.
JONES: 11 That he be invited to prepare a proposal and present it

Mr. Don Redfern attended before the Council to present plane ani;
specifications for the extension of the Disposal Plant.
