By-laws.
The second reading of the by-law to amend by-law 1051
was completed in committee of the whole, and the reading

DAVIDSON: a second time and that this Council dissolve itself
into. a Committee of the whole for that purpose 11

Reeve Murray present.ed a report of. the Waterworks S.uperintendant
on his attendance at the co,urse tor Senior Water1vorkw Operators
held by the Department of '1 ealth of Ontario.
Reeve Murray also brought in the lease for the rental of apace
in the Municipal Building to the York County Family Court •

The report of Mr. McGhee the waterworks superintendant was
considered.
MURRAY: 11 That a letter be sent to Mr. McGhee congratulating
JONES: him on the report".

Reeve Murray reported thatthe watermain on Tyler ·Street w·as
now completed,
Deputy Reeve Jones reported on work on Edward Street ann
Dunning Avenue.
JONES: 11 That a letter be dent to Mr. Cousins and Mr. Case
CHILD: advising them that an agreement to provide for
repayment must be signed before we can Proceed
with the work of extending Dunning Avenue from
Edward Street to the C.N. R. tracks".

Deputy Reeve Jonew also reported on the roads on the Senutovitch
subdivision and on the recoll!.mendatioris of the Department of
Highways Engineer.
JONES: 11 That the recommendations for the completion of the
BAILEY:. streets be sent to Mr. Senutovi tch and that this
work be completed before the streets are accepted 11 •
Carried.
Councillor Davidson raised the question of proposed changes in
the S)lbdi viders agreement with particular reference t'J the
equalization of commercialann industrial assessment with
residential assessment, This matter was discussed briefly.
Councillor Davidson also reported on the water supply problem and
this was discussed.
Reports of Committees.
Councillor Child presented the f'ollowing written report of
the Planning Committee: re Cousins and Case Sub-divisions.
11 The Committee respectfully submit the following
Recommendations as being the stand to be taken by Council
1. Agreeable that the road of Dunning Ave. lying east of Edward
Street be constructed under the Local Improvement agreement,
The use by R. Case of the water an~ sewers installed by L,
Cousins be a matter for them to settle between themselves.
2. That the services; and road on the extension of Edward Street
South be installed under the Local improvement agreement
and charged against the property. ·
.3. That there be no change in the pol1cy.of50-50%industrial and
or commercial and residential assessment.
4. (a) That both R. Case 1 s and L. Cousin's SU~DIVISION BE BROKEN
down into thr.ee stages, with 12 house.s in each stage,
Indu&trial assessment to match residential assessment before
proceeding with the next stage, with the exception of the last
stage at Which time industry will be required to be settled
before proceeding the last stage

(b) That consideration be given to L. Uousins for the industry
already established and that he be allowed to erect an
additional 6 houses in the first stage,

5. That the matter of assessment of sub-divided land not built on
is a matter for the Assessor to rule on, Council having no
jurisdiction upon the assessment of the Town.11

11 That the Town Planning Committee report dealing with
the Case-Cousins subdivisions be accepted".

NEW BUSINESS
The Mayor reported ona proposal for the erection of an apartment
house on Yonge St. N, It was agreed that the details as presented
were not satisfactory for the erection of such a building.
The request of the Board of Trade for Christmas decorations
was considered,
STODDART: 11 That $100,00 be paid to the Board of Trade to
NISBET: augment their present Christmas Lighting decorations
and thatthe Seal of the Corporation be attached
hereto".
Carried,
Reeve Murray reported on the opening of the Family Court to be
held on November 16th and on the opening of the new Registry
Office to be opened on the same day.
Reeve Murray reported on the use of artesian wells for water
supply and it was agreed to call a committee meeting to diseuse
this matter,
The Mayor reported on the location of the ~uonset hut, and this m
matter was left for the next regular meeting of the Council.
The payment of the water diviner was discussed.
Councillor Nisbet raised the question of the planting of trees
in the green belt areas of the town.
NISBET: 11 That the Town order 5000 red pine trees from the
STODDART: Dept of Forestry for planting in the Greeb Belt
Areas in 1956 and that the Seal of the Corporation
be attached hereto".
JONES: 11 That the meeting now adjourn".
