A letter from the Dept. of Health of Ontario r&garding a course for Senior Waterworks Operators was read. ijURRAY: · 11 That Mr. McGhee the Waterworks Foreman be allowed to CORBETT: attend the course of instruction for· senior water works operators taking place in Toronto the week of Oct.l7th and that Mr. McGhee be allowed a sum of $JO.OO to defray his expenses and pay his registration fee and the Seal of the Corporation be attached hereto". CARRIED. A letter from the Dept. of Labour of Ontario regarding the Trench Protection A ct was read. MURRAY: "That this be left over for New Business". CORBETT: CARRIED. Delegations. Mr.Roy McDonald, Mr.C'reorge Black, Mr. I.Dadson, and Mr. \of.Terry attended before the Council to ask for enforcement of the speed limit on Wellington Sti W. Mr. George Black attended before the Council to ask for improvement of the storm sewer on the corner of George Wt.and Wellington st. and for the installation of sidewalk at this corner. This matter was discussed at length. Mr. Harold Graham attended ~-fore the Council to awk for consideration of the enrolment of Town Employees in the Board of Trade Group Insurance Plan. REPORTS OF COMMITTEES. Fire & Water Committee Reeve Murray reported on a draft agreement from -the Dept. of tiignways to permit test drilling on Dept. of Highways property. This was left for discussion under New Business.· Reeve Murray also reported on an inspection of Yonge St. by 219 a r•presentative of Curran and Briggs and the Engineers and reported that the contractors would make eertain repairs to the street. Streets Committee Dep.Reeve Jones reported on certain street lights in the town. Property Committee Councillor Nisbet reported on the construction of the culvert on Yonge st. s. at the bridge. By-Laws Committee Councillor Bailey presented the following report: "The Committee respectfully submit the follo~iing: That an anti noise by-law be prepared pursuant to Section 388 subsection 112 and 113 of the Municipal Act RSO 1950 c243 11 • BAILEY: 11 That the report of the by-laws Committee be adopted 11 • CORBETT: CARRIED. Building Permits Committe (cont 1 d) sept.li/55 1) No one storey dwelling shall cover less than 900 square feet of land area, exclusive of poeches and verandahs. No dwelling of more than one storey shall cover less than 800 square feet on the ground floor. 2) On any land developed after th.ese changes come into effect, the minimum lot area for a residential building will be 7,000 square feet. In all other areas the minimum requirement for a residential lot shall be 5,400 square feet. 3) On any land developed after these changes come into effect 221 no part of any dwelling or accessory building shall be constructed or altered so that it will be at a distance of leas than 6 feet from either side boundary. 4) No automobile trailer shall be used for human habitation within the Town of Aurora (This clause was ~eleted from the report before being voted Upon ) . Councillor Corbett asked for information on the powers of the Building Inspector to enforce a standard of building, and this matter was discussed. 227 Councillor Davidson reported on alle~ged speeding on Tyler Street and this matter was referred to the Police Committee for consideration.
