Commission re the removal of a tree at 85 Wellington St. East was read, STODDART: 11 That this be left over until the next meeting CORBETT: of the Council", Carried, DELEGATIQ.Ji. Mr. B.D. Gilbert attended before the Council on behalf of the Safety Council to ask if the Council would assist the operation of the Labatt Safe Driving Truck on Thursday September 22nd, and to ask for the use of the Town Park for a Road-eo on October·lst 1955, Dep.R.JONEs: 11 That the Traffic Safety Council be permitted Reeve MURRAY: to use the Town Park on Saturday October let 1955 11 • COMMITTEE RE PORTS. The amendmen» was defeated The motion was defeated. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Reeve Murray spoke on the condition of Yonge St. MURRAY: "Whereas this Council is of the opinion that the JONES: work of widening and resurfacing Yonge Street, 229 done by Curran & Briggs Ltd., was not done satisfactoril~ under the terms of the contract. Therefore be it resolved that the Contractors and the Consulting Engineers, Proctor, Redfern and Laughlin be notified that unless this work is finally completed as provided in the contract, to our satisfaction, all necessary action to obtain proper completion will be takenu. This motion was discussed, and then tabled by the Mover and Seconder pending discussions with the Contractor and Engineers. Reeve Murray reported that the blind spot on Yonge St. North was being dealt with by the Dept. of' Highways. Councillor Davidson asked if anything had been done to enforce the speed limit on Tyler St. This was discussed briefly. Councillor Corbett asked for a meeting to discuss the garbage levy. BY-LAWS. BAILEY: "That leave be given to introduce a By~law to regulate CORBETT: the use of land and the location character and size of residential buildings and that the same be now read a first time" Carried. DAVIDSON: "That the By-law now before the Council be read a NISBET: second time and that the Council dissolve itself into a committee of the whole for that purpose". The letter from the Dept. of Labour regarding the appointment of a Trench Inspector was discussed. It was held over for further consideration at the next meeting. The question of a group insuranc.e plan for to\m emplmyees was further considered. JONES: "That this be held over until an expression of DAVIDSON: opinion has been obtained from the employees". ' Carried. The attendance of the Engineer at the Convention of the Canadian Institute on Sewage and Sanitation was discussed. DH CORBETT: CHILD: "That our Town Engineer be granted one hundred. dollars for his time and expenses re sewer disposal convention at Schumacher and thatthe Seal of the Corporation be atte. ched hereto 11 Carried. NEW BUSINESS. Councillor Davidson suggested the commercialization of the waste from the Disposal Plant. This matter was left for future consideration. Councillor Child : "That a message of congratulations be sent bJ the Town of Aurora to Cliff Lumsden on his magnificent effort of last Friday in completing the J2 mile Exhibition Swim and best wishes be extended to Gus Ryder and his.entire group 11 • Councillor Nisbet: The holding JONES: BAILEY: Carried. of an advSDe poll was discussed, 11 That the Solicitor be instructed to bring in a By-law authorizing the holding of an advance poll to be held on the Saturday before the Elections 11 • Carried.
