Representatives from the Aurora Ball Club spoke.to Council in regards the splendid showing made by the Club and that the Club would appreciate fimmoial assistance if possible, since their club was not sponsored and expenses had been taken care of by the Club'·s small gate reoipts, whiohwere not suf:f:lcient to meet total expenses. R. Hodgkinson & A,Hulse, on behalf of the Legion extended an invitation to all Council to take part in the Memorial Day ceremonies Nov. 13th and the official opening of the new Hall. Mr. A,E,L,Maughan, on behalf of Messrs. Landen, Wilson & CUJ_ld presented a draft plan of a proposed building program for residences on Kennedy St. W. After consideration by Council these gentlemen were advised to meet the Planning Board on the matter. CORRESPONDENCE . . An application from D.J.Watson 37 Mosley St. for a Veterans Lot was reo- eiveda~ and plaoei on file if and when a lot should become available. The .tiagersville Asphalt Paving Ltct, submitted a price on the resurfacing of a part of Yonge St. for Council's consideration. CORNER, DAVIES; That the Hagersville Construction Co. be given contract to resurface Yonge St. from water tower south 250 ft. and from Cousins· Dr, south a distance of 300ft. more or less at a cost of $1.50 per sq.yd. Carried, COMMITTEE REPORTS A sports committee report was received in connection with hochey nets for the arena, CORBETT, GLASS; That the Council recommend that a payment of $36,00 be made to the Reoereation Commission to be used for hookey nets and the · Seal of the Corporation be attached to this resolution. Carried, Councillor Glass presented a financial report of the Recreation Commission for Jan,l/49 to Oot~24/49, the report being filed for reference, Reeve Cook, tabled the report of the Water & Fire Committee, specifying work to be done and certain new installations necessary. GLASS, JONES; That the report of the Fire & Water committee be accepted, carried, Twenty-fourth meeting Nov.?th 1949 page 3 JONES, GLASS; That the Clerk be authorized to advertise for a Waterworks fore,an and that applicaxtions be received up to Dec, 1st 1949. Carried. GLASS, CORBETT; That the property committee be authorized to prepare the south west corner of the Town park for a combined baseball and soft ball diamond, that the committee be empowered to hire any help that it deems necessary and purchase any material needed at an estimated cost of $100,00 and that the Seal of the Corporation be attached to this resolution, Carried• BY-LAWS DAVIES, CORNER; That leave be given to introduce a By-law to authorize borrowing $10~00Q~OO for Waterworks purposes and that the same be now read a fisrt time. uarried, MURRAY, PRINGLE; That the By-law now before the Council be read a second time and that the Council dissolve itself into a committee of the whole for that purpose. Carried~ CORBETT, GLASS; That the By-law now before the Council be read a third time this day and that Rule 22 of By-law # 862 be suspended for that purpose. Carried. JONES, PRONGLE; That the third reading be taken as read. Carried. NEW BUSINESS DAVIES, PRINGLE; That the Town Clerk be authorized to give due publicity . in the looal press to the Remberance Day Celebrations on Sunday Nov. 13/49 Carried.
