FIFTEENTH MEETING(special) JULY l8th.l949,
A special meeting of Council was held in the Council Chambers Monday
July 18th, 1949 at 8 p.m. Members present were Dr.C.Rose, Reeve Cook
Councillors Corbett, Davies, Jones, Murray, Glass, Pringle.
For the start of the meeting Reeve ~ooke assumed the chair.
The purpose of this meeting was to consider tenders that were submitted
for the sale of Arena Debentures and any further business coming before
the meeting.
The tenders for this issue of debentures was opened before the meeting
and after due consideration of all menders submitted,the following
motion was passed.
DAVIES, MURRAY. That the tender of the Imperial Bank of Canada for
the Memorial Arena Debenture issuet at the quoted figure of 99.037
be accepted and that the Seal of the Corporation be attached to this
resolution. Carried.
PRINGLE, CIO.OXE. That we purchase a complete Rotating Element for
#JG Smart-Turner Pump as per quotation from The Smart-Turner Machine
Co. Ltd. Hamilton, Ont. dated June 18th,l949 and that the Seal of the
Corporation be attached thereto. Carried
DAVIES,JONES. That the tender of the St.Clair Roofing Co. for the
roofing of the Waterworks Pumping Station at a quoted figure of $40J,OO
be accepted and that the Seal of the Corporation be attached hereto.
Carried
COOK, PRINGLE. That we purchase a piston and all parts required for
the meter at the Nisbett well at a cost of approximately $200.00 and
the Seal of the Corporation be attached to this resolution, Carried.
JONES, GLASS. That the next ~egular meeting of Council ordinarily
held on August 2nd be postponed ~il August 8th due to numerous mem-
bers of Council being on vacation. Carried.
PRINGLE, MURRAY. That Monday, August let be declared the Civic Holiday
for the Town of Aurora for the year 1949. Carried.
PRINGLE, COOKE. That the salary of the Milk Inspector, commencing
July let be $50.00 per month and that the Seal of the Corporation be
attached to this resolution. Carried, '
JONES, GLASS. That the Recreation Commission be authorized to place
Playground equipment in town parks under the directorship of the
Property committee. Carried.
GLASS, CORBETT. That Mr. J,Aubrey Holmes be appointed parks warden
for the ToWn of Aurora with the authority of a special constable if the
need arise4. . Carried.
