3rd MEETING (SPECIAL) FEB. 16th 1948

A special meeting of Council was held in the Council Chambers on Monday
Feb. 16th at 8·.oo p.m. With Mayor Rose in the chair, other members present;
Reeve Cook; Dep.Reeve Corner; Chas. Davies; V.Jones; T.F.Swindle;
W.C.Corbett; .H.N .Pringle; J .E.Sisman.
This meeting was called to pass certain by~laws and accounts neading
immediate attention, and to pass a temporary borrowing by-law in
connection with Local Improvement of sewers.
COOK, SWINDLE; That we authorize the Clerk to advance an interim grant
of Two hundred dollars to the Library Board of the Town of Aurora for
the year 1948. and the Seal of the Corporation be attached hereto. Carried·~
JONES, CORBETT; That .leave be given to introduce a By-law to authorize the
Construction of sanitary & storm sewers and that the same be now read
a first time. Carried.
CORNER,SISMAN; That the By-law now before the Council be read a second
time and that the Council dissolve itself into a committee of the whole
for that purpose. Carried. ·
SWINDLE,PRINGLE; That the By-law now before the Council be read a third
time this day and that Rule 2 2 of By-law # 862 be suspended for that
purpo~re. Carried~ ·
SWINDLE,DAVIES; That the 3rd reading be taken as.~ead. Carried.
CORBETT, JONES; That leave be given to introduce a By-law to'authorize
the obtaining of temporary advances to meet the cost of certain works
and that the same be now read a first time. Carri.ed. ·
SISMAN,SWINDLE; That the By-law now before the Council be read a second
time and that the Council dissolve itself into a committee of the whole
for that purpose. · Carried.
PRINGLE, SWINDLE; That the By-law now before the Council be read a third
time this day and that Rule 22 of By-law # 862 be suspended for that

SWINDLE, PRINGLE; That the By-law now before the Council(Highway Improve~
ment) be read a second time and that the Council dissolve itself into a
committee of the whole for that purpose. Carried.
JONES,CORBETT; ~hat the By-law now before the Council be read a third time
this day and that Rule 22 of By-law # 862 be suspended for that purpose.

CORNER, DAVIES; That the Council of the Town of Aurora petition the Dept.
of Highways for Statutory grant, based on figures submitted on form
T.V.3 C·. dated Feb. 16th 1948, being balance on subsidy. Carried.
SISMAN,SWINDLE; That the Mayor & Treasurer be empowered to convert $6500.oo,
in Dominion of Canada bonds into cash and place this sum to the credit
of the Water Dept. to pay construction accounts and the Seal of the Corpn.
be attached hereto. Carried. ·
Dep. Reeve Corner, Cahirman of the Streets Committee brought in a report
of that Committee regarding the cutting of certain trees in Town.
DAVIES, JONES; That the report of the Streei(s Committee re trees to be cut
be accepted and acted upon. Carried:~
DAVIES, SISMAN; That the Local Branch 385, Canadian Legion be granted
permission to display on trees and poles in the municipality, advertising
posters of their Building Fund, SUBJECT to the approval of the Hydro &
Commission and the Bell Telephone Co. Carried.
SISMAN,SWINDLE; That the following acaounts of the Waterworks Dept~ be
paid and that the Seal of the Corpn. be attached hereto. Carried~>
