The Inaugural Meeting ?f Council was held in th~ Council Chambers on Monday
Jan •. 12th at 11.00 a.lll'. ·
Members present; Dr~C.Rose; Dep. Reeve R.H.Corner; Councillors,w.c.corbett;
Chas. Davies; Victor Jones; H.N.Pringle; J.E.Sisman; T.F.Swindle.
Due to pressing business of County Council Reeve Cook was unable to attend~
and had subscribed to the Dec.laration of Office earlier in the day~
The Declaration of Office was taken by the Clerk, to which all members of
( Council assented by their signatures.
Mayor Rose then asked the Rev'~ R.K.Perdue to give the Inaugural prayer.
Mayor Rose extended to the members of the 1947 Council well chosen words of
welcpme and a Similar welcome to those members who for the first time sat on
\ .. ./ Council.

Ex. Mayor Ross Linton was asked to ppeak, and so doing congratulated the
Members on being elected to the Council for 1948, Followed by words of
enlightenment~
Each member of Council took advantage of the opportunity to address the
meeting, along with guests and the Clergy in the persons of; Rev. Perdue;
Rev. Hicks; Rev. Park; Captain Stephens. For the guests, Mr~ P.M.Thompson;
F.R.Underhill; Dr~ C.Devins; L.C.Lee, all of whom spoke very fitting words
and expressed their best wishes to Council for the coming year~
In the absence of Dr. Williams, Dr. Urquhart addressed the meeting on behalf
of the New High School District.
At this time the Guests retired and Council passed the motion to appoint
a committee to strike the standing committees for the year,
SISMAN, JONES; That the Mayor, Reeve Cook and Councillor Swindle act as the
Striking Committee. Carried·~
