NINTH MEETING (SPECIAL) May 19th 1947
A Special meeting of Council was held in the Council Chambers on Monday
May 19th at 8.30 p.m. with Mayor Linton in the Chair, and other members
present aB;follows; Reeve Sparks; Dep. Reeve Cook; T.F,Swindlex;Victor Jones
J,E,Sisman; Chas. Davies; S;G,Patrick.
Mr. George Lawson appearad before Council to outline plans in order to
get permission to erect a house on the North side of Catherine Ave. also
to get views of Council as to where a Street would be located if such
land was to be opened for S.ub-division. It was agreed by Council that
a permit be issued To Mr. Lawson to erect a house immediately east of the
lasthouse on N/S of Catherine Ave.
Chas. Cook was present to get certain matters clarified as to width of
street needed for Kennedy St. E. and Gurnett St. Mr. C~ok agreed to
give an additional 6 ft. on the East side of Gurnett St. to the Town for
street purposes making a total of 66ft. street allowance. It would appear
that at least lOft. will be required for Kennedy St. East of P. Preston 1 s
property.
SWINDLE, PATRICK; That we purchase a streetcleaning cart for the Street's
department at a cost of not exceeding $50, 00 and that the Seal of the .
Corporation be attached hereto~ Carried.
SWINDLE, SISMAN; That leave be given to introduce a BY-law to authorize
the borrowing of dollars upon debentures for school purposes and that the
same be now re~d a first time,
DAVIES, ROSE; ThatvtheBy-Law now before the Council be read a second time
and that Council dissolve itself into a committee of the whole for that
purpose.
ROSE, COOK; That leave be given to introduce a By-law to authorize the sale
of Lot 29 on the south side of Tyler St. and that the same be now read
a first time,
ROSE, JONES; That the By-law now before the Council be read a second time
and that the Council dissolve itself into a committee of the whole for
that purpose,
SWINDLE, SISMAN; That the By-law now before the Council be read a third time
this day and that Rule 22 of By-law# 862 be suspended for that purpose,
COOK,SWINDLE; That the third. reading be taken as read. Carried.
ROSE, JONES; that leave be given to introduce a By-law to authorize the
sale of Lot .30 on the south side of Tyler st. and that the same be now read
a first time.
DAVIES, JONES; That the By-law now before the Council be read a second time
and that the Council dissolve itself into a committee of the whole for that
purpose.
SISMAN, SWINDLE; That the By-law now before the Council be read a third time
this day and that Rule 22 of By-law # 862 be suspended for that purpose.

Assessor for the Municipal Corporation of the Town of Aurora and that the
same be now read a first time.

for that purpose~

this day and that Rule 22 of By-law # 862 be suspended for that purpose.
