General Store 3 X 56¢ Rent Food 1.68 7.50 28.60 In order to hear the reports of the various committees at thms time, the regular oihier of business was suspended, the correspondence being read later~ Chairman Sparks of the Streets Committee presented his report and the reccomendations to Council. ROSE, SWINDLE; that the matter of wages of all Town employees be turned over to the Finance Committee to go into in detail. Carried'~ D{l]lty Reeve Cook gave a verbal report on the Waterworks Dept. making the suggestion that a 6in. main for Wellingto~St. instead of a 4in. be given thought. Mr. A,M.Cousins request for a building permit was left in the hands of the ,_,. Building Committee. · .. Councillor Swindle read his report of the Finance Committee, mainly outlining Assessment and a quarterly budget of the estimated expenses, · Councillor Jones gave a report of the Social Service & Sanitation Committee meeting held Jan. 27th. Chas. Davies, Chairman of the Planning & DevelopBmaat Committee addressed Council,regarding his attendance at the Convention of the Department held recently in Toronto~ The Planning & Developmment Committee made a motion to the effect that the Minister of Planning & Development be petitioned to approve an Official Planning Area for the Municip&lity of the Town of Aurora. Carried. The Water & FirECommittee submitted the report recommending the purchese of equipment for the Fire Department and Water Dept'~ as per report. Carried, Councillors Davies & Sisman submitted the report that the plans by A.Lorne Cousins,expanding his subdivision be approved,subject to the provision that no lot in this subdivision be used for any other purpose thaN for the erection of a residence, SWINDLE, COOK; that the pet.ion for toilet facilities for the the public school,being held in the Town hall be taken up by Committee for attention~ lower :r-oom of the ~op,e~ SWINDLE, JONES; That the Clerk publish a notice in the Banner calling for applicationS'Qf men to do part time work, filing their names with the Clerk for reference. .~ ;·! l f ,_ -, \ / ) - Third meeting page 3 SWINDLE, ROSE; That an interi~ grant of $200.00 be made to the Aurora Public Library. Ca,rried~ A letter from Solicitor Lee enclosing iEKiH deed from Percy w. Preston for land purchased was received. SWINDLE, ROSE, The communication from the Village of Richmond Hill regarding the building an inoenerator was left in the hands of the Sanitation Committee for further discussion, the results of which the &tocxk XM ~~ Committee was to report to Council. The Clerk to notify Richmond Hill of this action'~ I The Provincial Police letter regarding some decoration of tht•r offices was placed in the care of the Property Committee with power to act, as a result of which the following motion was passed. JONES, SWINDLE; That the property Committee be empowered to undertake any decorating needed in the offices of The Provincial Police and that the Seal of the Corporation be attached hereto-~ An application from The Navy League of Canada was received to ask permission to hold a tag day in The Town of Aurora at a later date-~ Granted·. SISMAN, COOK; That the petition received from residents of Wells St. for Sewer connections be held over for further developments, also to ascertain if Mr. Lome Cousins wishes to sign same, then returned to Council, to be dealt with. The letter of the Association of Assessing Officers of Ontario was ordered filed'; by Counoiloors Swindle & Rose~ A reply to the letter of Meadows, Critoph & Co. was ordered, to the effect that the Town is taking the matter up with the Planning Board, and we are not yet ready to go into the matter with them~ ROSE, SISMAM; That the letter from Rev. M.R.Lynett of Aurora We filed for the new Assessor when appointed~ SWINDLE, DAVIES; That the letter from the Ontario Association of Rural Municipalities be referred to the next meeting of Council. COOK, SWINDLE; That all correspondence relating to the Board of Transport Commissioners for Canada be handed to the Streets Committee 'and to consult the Toronto & York Roads Commission. Carried~ The letter from Mr. George Duffield was read regarding an accident to his oar on Dec. 26/46. The Clerk to notify Mr. Duffield that the Townx disclaims the Liability~ ROSE, COOK; That leave-be given to introduce a By-law to amend By-law #879 re insuring of Taxi Cabs and that the same be_ now read a first time. COOK, SWINDLE; That the By-law now before the Council be read a second. time and that the Council di_ssolve itself into a committee of the Whole for the purpose. ROSE, SISMAN; That the By-law now before the Council be read this day a third time and that Rule 22 of By-law # 862 be suspended for that purpose. The third reading was taken as read~ ROSE, JONES; That leave be given to introduce a BY-law to appoint a member of the Board of Health and that the same be now· read a first time·~ COOK, SWINDLE; That the By-law now before the Council be read a second time and that the Council dissolve 'itself mnto a committee of the whole for that purpose. COOK, SISMAN; That leave be given to introduce a By-law to extend the lease on the Mechanics Hall, and that the s~e be now read a first time. The second reading of this By-law being postponed until the next mee~ing of Council. SWINDLE, SISMAN; That leave be given to introduce a By-law to authorize the entering into and tha execution of an agreement with the Liquor License Board of Ontario·· and that the same be now read a first time. JONES, SISMAN, That the time of the meeting be extended to complete the passing of this By-law. Carried.
