The TWENTY FIFTH meeting of the Council was held in the Council Chambers
on 1fonday Evening, December 16th., with the Mayor in the· Cgair, and all
M.embers :present except Councillor Wilson. Meeting o:pefned ·at 8.15.
The :aee>63. minutes of the twenty fou:i.lN.h meeting were read and a:p:provedo&l!l
w~.Hy.Jones was :present and read the annual report of the Fire Brigade,
showing 17 calls with a fire loss of ~~5642.00, ·this loss being covered
maiillly by the fire at Cook's Bee Factory. One pu.tside call in King T:p.
at ~.H.Burns.The fire drills a:t Schools were as follows;-
Public School May 13, 398 :pupils, school emptied in l min. 7 sec.
II II Oct. 7 300 II II II in 55 sec.
High School wfuy 14 , 215 II II II in 1 min.5 s.ec.

STUART,Hli:NDERSON. That the report submitted by Hy.J0 hes,Fire Chief, re
the work of the Fire Brigade f~r the current year be received and adopted,
and that the Chief and his Men be com:plimemted on again winning honors in
competition this time at Thorold, and also for their community;services
on various public occasions• Carried.
The Treasurers Financial S;jatement was read by ~.Sparks, and discussed in
detail.
SPAR.KS,Hli:NDERSON• That the Treasurer's Financial Statement for the year
1939-1940 be received and adopted, and that the Clerk be authorised to
have; 200 copies :printed for the use of the Public, and the seal of the
Corporation be attached thereto. Carried.
M:ALLOY,GUNTON. That the Fire Chief, Harry Jones, be :paid the usual annual
allowance of j5o.oo·"for the services rendered 1940, and that the seal of
the Corporation be attached thereto. Carried •.
SPARKS,Hli:NDERSON. That the :following accounts be :paid, that the Mayor issue
orders on the Treasurer for the same, and that the seal of the Corporation
be attached thereto.
