The Illineteenth meeting of the Council was. held in the Council Chambers
on Monday Ev:ening, October 7th, at 8.15, with the Mayor in the Chair,
and all Members present except Councillor Wilson, who was detained, but
came in later.
The minutes of the sixteenth, seventeenth, and eighteenth meetings were
read a.nd adopted.
A deputation from the Q;aeens York Rangers was heard in request for the
use of the Arena for drilling and lecture purposes.
Harry .Jones and s.::J?a.triek asked permission for the use of the Mechanics
Hall once each week for the Fire Brigade.

hereby appointed emgineer to report pursuant to Section 38 illf th.e Local.
Improvement Act, R.s.o.~937, Chapter 269, on the ~ife time of the work
and a.a to th~ red~c:!;iqna, if ~ny, which ought to be made under Section 28
of the said Act, and·to furnish an estimate of the cost of the work, and a.
statement of_ the share or proportion of the cost which shou~d be borne by
the land abutting direc~ on the work and by the Corporation reapectively,
and to report aa to the number of insta.lm.enta by w:!:J.ich the special assessment
should be made payable, andt to furnish such other partiwl.ars as shall be
required pursuant to the te:i:'lllS' of the said Act.
2. That 4iae in calculating the share or propo:t'tion of the cost which ahould be
borne 'by the land abutting directly ori the work and by the Corporation ·
reppectively, the said Mr.G.A.MoDonald be and is hereby autll.oriz:ed to make his
report on the ba.ais of the CQrporation bearing the total cost of the centre
six feet of the proposed patement, the abutting owners bearing the total. cost
of the six feet on either side of the centre six :feet,and the cost o:f the
balance of such pavement being proportioned on the basis of the C'orpora.tion
bearing ninety-five per cent thereof and by the owners of the land abutting
the pavement bearing five per cent .thereof.
