Mayor in the Chair and all Members ,present.
J .M.Petermann appeared ,before Council to app~y fo.r sewer connection to his

The minutes of the twentieth meeti~were read and adopted, and on request
of Councillor Stuart, a copy of ~etter of comp~aint from Mr.Collinson be
sent to Co~lis Leather Co.
LINTON, GUNTON. T.b:a.t the Aurora Weterans be granted permission to hold a
poppy tag day on Saturday, November 9th,1940, and that the seal of the
Corporation be attached. Carried•
Mr.J .L.Heagarty was heara in connection with use of Arena dror the Irish
Regiment for drilling purposes. Due to certian conditions they had
decided to arrange for a.rrother ,Piace in whicll to drill, and would therefore
not need the Arena after December lst.or thereabouts.
It was suggested that they could use the Drill Shed, but Mr Heagarty said
that this was not possible.
Chief Jones and Captain Patrick of the Fire Brigade reported on their
course taken at the University School for Firemen, which they found
exceptionally good. They als·o asked for more hose, a longer ~adder, and
a tarpaulin.
STUA RT,HENDERSON. That the necessary changes be made imlllediately in the
fi~e alarm systems at the Shoe Factory and the Collis Leather Co., to
suit the Fire Chief. Carried.
SPARKS,HENDERson. That the fo~lowing accounts be IPid, that the Mayor issue
orders on the Treasurer for the same, and that the seal of the Corporation
be attached thereto.

ltlfCI' There has been no change in the Relie:ff situation since last month.
Six persons are on relief, all are unable to workn.
SP.ABKS,BJllNDERSON. That in view of threat of court aotion by Wilmot Brumwell
regarding certain arrears of taxes charged against Lot 18, Plan.215,South
side of Mark Ave., and in settlement of a dispute between the Corporation
and the said Wilmot Brumwell,Mortgagee of the property, but without admitting
any default on the part of the Corporat.ion and on the understanding that the
taxes against the said property are paid forthwith, the daid arrears be
computed without aalc:uJ.ating penalties and int.erest on all unpaid taxes
against the said property for the years 1933, 1934, J.935, and J.936, and that
uppn payment as aforesaid unaonditionally, of the balance to Dec:ember 3J.st.,
1940, then found to be due and owing, l;leing $928.69, the Treasurer be relieved
from collecting the said penalties and.' interest and he is hereby authorised
to issue'to the said Wilmot B~awell a receiut in full of the said taxes
against the said property, and the seal of the Corporation be attached hereto.
