The fourteenth meeting of the Council was held in the Council Chambers
on Monday Evening, July 15th. at 8.15. Mayor Walton occupied the Chair,
with Members being present except Reeve Mulloy and Dr .Henderson.
The minutes of the thi~teenth meeting were read and adopted on motion
of Mr.Linton and Dr,Gunton.
Notice of claim for inju~ies due to a fall on pavement ~n front of Bell
Telephone Building on Yonge Street, from Downey & McDonald, for Mrs.
Marshall Rank, was read and ordered to be referred to the In1surance Co.
The Bond for lVIr.Vlillis,Clerk & Treasurer, which had been incree.sed from
$5000.00 to $10000.00, on recommendation by Auditor and the Ontario
Municipal Department, was after discussion held for furthel' consideration
at the next full meeting of the Council. li!Ir. Stuart contended that there
was no necessity for the increase from $5000.00
Ivir.Qunton reported on Relief irregularities, one of the features being the
the purchase of alcohol by He1iefees. It was decided that all possible
measures be ta.ken to stop this practice, certain names were mentioned to
be listed as excessive purchasers of alcohol, and sale to such persons
was prohibited in future.
GUNTON,STUART. That a closed voucher syst~a be adopted similar to the
attached specimen F, and a sup}lly of forms be printed for use in Aurora.Carried,
At 9.00 o'clock Dr.Hiimderson arrived and took his seat.
Ther~ was some discussion on Water Arrears, and satisfactory proof was given
of collections having been made within the past few days of most of the
deli.ng_uent accounts.
Dr.Henderson notified the Council that at the next regular meeting he
intended to introduce a by-law for advance payment by new water users,
the swne as has been adopted for Electric Light users.
Arrangements for next regular meeting, which cannot be held on the usual
night on account of Civic Holiday, were tentatively made for August 12th.
with possibly a special meeting in the meantime.
Consideration was given to a bill received from the Department of Public
Welfare in connection with Miss McEo<m, but as this was for T.B.Care, and

amounted to $162.60, and is a continuous charge, it should first be
investigated.
GUNTOl~ • WILSON • That Mr .L .Hodgins be appointed as Ca:ileta.ker of the Town
Buildings at a salary of $7.00 ~er week, at the termination of Mr • .J.
Buker's services on .July 27th. Carried.
LINTON, SPARKS. That the report of the Committee on Safety Campaign be
received. Carried.
The Mayor brought up the matter of introducing a by-law to provide for an
election of Commissipners to manage Water and Electric services, which was
discussed , but fmrther consideration deferred.
A proposal to have Centre Street graded and paved a distance of approx-
imately 160 feet Easterly from Yonge Street, was introduced by Dep.Reeve
Sparks. The cost is estimated at 1~1600 .oo. Further discussion was deferred
·until such time as a proper petition of proper.~;v ovmers would be presented.
